It's Wednesday, darling, and that means a brand-new Pink Tutu post is live on www.pink-tutu.com! This week I'm bringing you all the pinkest, most fabulous, and most twirly-worthy moments from my Roman adventure!
Oh, Rome, how I've missed you! It's been a while since my last visit, but it's always a joy to return to this magnificent city. I don't know what it is about the Roman air – maybe it's the history, maybe it's the gelato, maybe it's the sheer beauty of it all - but it simply sets my heart alight.
This time around, I'm not only enjoying the breathtaking architecture, delicious food, and incredible fashion, I'm also catching a few of the best ballet performances the city has to offer. After all, you can't have a Pink Tutu adventure without a bit of twirling, can you?
And speaking of twirling... This trip, I've gone all-out. Not one but two fabulous pink tutus packed for the occasion! The first, a delicate chiffon creation in a dusty rose, perfect for a romantic evening stroll through the Colosseum. The second, a vibrant shocking pink tulle masterpiece, is ideal for conquering the Trevi Fountain and throwing a coin or two for good luck.
Speaking of which, did I mention my new obsession? This trip, I'm living for Roman Fashion. From the chic ladies sporting designer shoes and flowing dresses, to the gentlemen with impeccably tailored suits and stylish scarves, it seems every Italian is a walking work of art. It’s inspiring me to find the most glamorous tutus in the city – and to even pair them with a few stunning silk scarves, too.
What’s On this Week:
- Opera Under the Stars: It’s not ballet, but a truly magical evening of opera! I can't wait to hear some of my favourite operatic tunes played under the breathtaking sky.
- The Teatro dell'Opera: My favourite Roman ballet company is performing a spectacular new production of “The Nutcracker” this week, and I'm so excited! The costumes, the choreography, the story... it's all going to be truly captivating!
- Street Performance Showdown: This week in the Piazza Navona, the street performers are bringing the heat! Expect impressive feats of strength, acrobatic ballet routines, and maybe even some breakdancing.
- Roman Gladiators in the Colosseum: Now, this one isn't strictly ballet-related but, who doesn't love a good Roman spectacle? We’ll be joining the crowds for an evening show and who knows? Maybe a few twirls with a Roman Centurion or two!
But the journey here is always part of the adventure, and for me, it means an epic train journey! A long haul, true, but who cares when you’re tucked away in your own little haven with your travel companion: a new paperback and my trusty pink tutu! (The first of my Roman selections will, of course, be “A Guide to Ballet in Italy.” My little tutu obsession just won't stop.)
Pink Tutu tips for travel by train:
- Be prepared: I've learnt the hard way. Pack your travel tutu bag. With all the essentials - your sparkly ballet shoes, of course!
- Make it comfortable: Train journeys are long and, a well-worn and soft tutu will help you relax!
- Pack snacks: Nothing worse than a rumbling tummy during a train ride! And hey, you can always use the empty sweets bag for tutus you’ve bought in your travel, right?!
- Embrace your inner dancer: Find your own space to practice your turns. Everyone else is on a train ride! Don't forget your Pink Tutu playlist!
It’s the small things that make the journey fun. Every train carriage turns into a stage when you embrace the beauty of the world and all it has to offer. This trip, my plan is to practice my best Roman-style twirls on my commute!
I'm looking forward to exploring the nooks and crannies of this beautiful city, indulging in some of my favourite Roman delights, and, of course, wearing my newest pink tutu for all to see! It’s going to be a fabulously fabulous week, my lovely readers, and I can’t wait to share it all with you.
