It’s Wednesday, and that means it’s time for a fresh dose of Pink Tutu adventures from yours truly, Emma, reporting live from the heart of Rome! This week's journey brought me to the Eternal City, a place that pulsates with ancient charm and a modern energy that is just begging to be explored. It's like a symphony, a tapestry of historical monuments woven with a vivacious contemporary pulse, and as a lover of all things vibrant, my little tutu-clad heart is doing cartwheels!
This trip was made possible, as always, by the sheer magic of the ballet. From Derbyshire to Rome, a few elegant pirouettes and soaring grand jetés transported me on a luxurious train journey to the birthplace of emperors and gladiators. And let me tell you, even with all that history swirling around me, the thought of a beautiful show of classical ballet had me completely enraptured. My dear readers, trust me when I say - there is simply no better feeling than dancing your way across Europe!
Today, my Roman odyssey kicks off with a glorious Italian sunrise painting the skies over the Trevi Fountain in the softest hues of pink. Seriously, my heart almost skipped a beat – talk about serendipitous beauty! I practically swooned, then promptly documented it all with my camera phone, a pink phone case of course. (After all, who doesn't need a little dose of colour and fabulousness in their lives?).
For today's fashion, I chose a dusty pink midi-skirt and a cream, frilly blouse, finished off with a fluffy, tulle tutu peeking out at the hem – a light, airy ensemble perfect for this breathtaking setting. (It was a challenge to keep my tutus from getting completely lost in all the beautiful drapery of the surrounding architecture, but I managed to strike some truly captivating poses! ?)
And, speaking of tutus... who would have thought that Rome is actually a haven for all things sparkly and graceful?! It seems every corner reveals another charming atelier or boutique where elegant ballet shoes beckon from the shelves. There's something magical about slipping on a new pair, feeling the supple leather caress your feet – an elegant reminder of why I wear a tutu!
Lunch with a view: The charm of trattorias
Before venturing into the bustling heart of the city, I stumbled upon a quaint trattoria tucked away in a small, sun-drenched alleyway. Oh my, the aromas – just heavenly! Fresh bread, garlic, basil – my stomach did a little jig! And as I sunk my teeth into the most delightful tomato-based pasta, with ricotta and mozzarella melting into each other, I knew I had discovered a culinary oasis in the midst of this extraordinary city.
Ballet Bliss:
This evening, I’m experiencing a true ballet spectacle! The Teatro dell'Opera di Roma is the stage for tonight’s show, a legendary venue with an atmosphere that’s positively electrifying. As I slip into a sleek navy blue cocktail dress, with a subtle pink sash and my trusty pink tutu peaking out from beneath (a girl’s gotta represent, right?), I feel the anticipation build. The night promises to be one filled with exquisite costumes, awe-inspiring choreography, and the undeniable magic of classical ballet.

Shopping Spree: A Roman Indulgence
Tomorrow, I'll be braving the cobblestoned streets and chic boutiques of Via Condotti. There's a very specific blush-pink silk blouse calling my name – I simply have to find it! My pink tutu and I are on a mission to discover the perfect pieces to add some Italian flair to my wardrobe. Of course, I'll be sure to share my finds and some fun fashion tips with all of you next Wednesday, along with some fantastic street style inspiration, Rome style!
Rome has definitely stolen a piece of my heart, with its charming cobblestone streets, its magnificent monuments, and a delicious blend of history and vibrancy. The people here are friendly, the food is utterly irresistible, and the city itself feels like a dream.
