Buongiorno, darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad travel blogger, Emma, bringing you sunshine and sparkles from the heart of Rome! As you know, this little Derbyshire girl has been saving every penny, practicing every pirouette and twirling into every opportunity to get me to this majestic city, and let me tell you, Rome hasn't disappointed. I've got enough photos to make your Insta-feed jealous and memories to last a lifetime. But where do I even start?!
First things first, I took the train! This is a big deal for me. I'm absolutely smitten with those sleek, high-speed trains, soaring through the countryside, leaving all the boring stuff behind. Imagine, me in my pink tutu, bouncing through Italy with my backpack full of tulle and dreams. And just for you, I've captured it all on film, because honestly, a ballerina's life on a train is just a beautiful sight!
Once I reached Rome, I had to embrace the fashion! You simply can't be in the City of Fashion without channeling your inner Roman Goddess. Now, my wardrobe is basically overflowing with gorgeous, flowing silk skirts, palazzo pants, delicate beaded earrings, and shoes that practically sing. I mean, how else are you going to walk around a place this beautiful? I've also been shopping, of course! You see, Rome is simply a treasure trove of the most exquisite pieces - think dainty floral prints, vibrant scarves, and just enough pink to make a tutu proud. I haven't left a vintage boutique untouched, darling! And trust me, you wouldn't believe the exquisite silk scarves I found – they just begged me to wear them with my tutu!
Oh, the food! You simply must try the Roman pasta dishes. Each plate is a work of art, with flavours that transport you straight to Italy's soul. I mean, seriously, pasta like this makes a ballet performance look like a mere footnote! I have to say, every single day I've discovered a new gem: the most perfectly prepared espresso, the crunchiest, fluffiest gelato, a bakery with the most tempting pastries... I am literally in heaven.
Now, let's talk about the culture! It’s truly enchanting! You’ve all seen the Colosseum, but seeing it in person? Wow! It's larger than life, even more so in my pink tutu. The intricate carvings, the imposing structure, it's history come alive! I actually got to stand on the stage of the Roman Forum! It was incredible! I felt like a real-life Roman goddess, twirling around in my pink tutu as if the whole empire was my stage. (I didn’t actually do that, I didn't want to get arrested, but you get the picture!) I took my ballerina outfit to the Galleria Borghese, it was magnificent, and the statues, stunning.
Of course, I also caught a couple of amazing ballet performances. It’s simply not possible to come to Italy and not take in some culture, and the dancers? Exquisite! They literally stole my breath, making my own ballet lessons seem so… basic. I’m picking up some new moves, so look out for some real improvements to my dancing in future videos!
So far, this trip has been a beautiful, vibrant, colourful blur of Italian charm and fashion. And you know what? It wouldn’t have been possible without my lovely ballet gigs that fund my travelling. Those gorgeous outfits on stage helped me afford this little slice of paradise! Now, Rome might be a glamorous dream come true, but the biggest magic happens when I wear my pink tutu! Remember, everyone can have a pink tutu moment! Don't forget to find yours, whether it’s on a rooftop, at the Colosseum, in your kitchen, or maybe even at your next ballet class.
Ciao bella, and don't forget, life is beautiful when you’re in your pink tutu!
Lots of love,
Emma
xx
