Hello darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another fabulous post from your favourite pink tutu-wearing travel blogger! This week I'm bursting with excitement to share my adventures in the Eternal City, Rome! Oh, it's been an absolute dream! Imagine cobbled streets, ancient ruins, the most beautiful piazzas, delicious food (pasta for breakfast, lunch and dinner!), and the chicest Italian style.
The journey from Derbyshire was simply magical. A comfy train journey allowed me to whip out my travel sketchpad and whip up a new pink tutu design (because honestly, how can one have too many pink tutus? ?). Speaking of pink, the moment I stepped off the train in Rome and caught a glimpse of the sunset reflecting on the terracotta rooftops, I knew I was going to fall in love with this city. It's practically painted in my favourite colour!
Rome's embrace is immediate. Within minutes, I found myself lost in a maze of winding streets in Trastevere. This cobbled neighbourhood is just so charming, with its romantic piazzas, hidden alleyways filled with twinkling lights and buzzing cafes filled with chatter and laughter. Of course, my first order of business was a delightful bowl of pasta topped with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese (the perfect fuel for my upcoming adventures!).
Thursday was all about the Colosseum! Oh, my dears, this architectural marvel is simply breathtaking. I felt like I was stepping back in time as I wandered through the imposing arches and imagined gladiatorial combat! Of course, no trip to the Colosseum is complete without the perfect outfit! I wore a bubblegum pink, ruffled tutu paired with a flowing white silk shirt and a chic black belt (a bit of contrast never hurt anyone). And naturally, I added a touch of sparkle with a pair of gold hoop earrings. It was a classic combination with a contemporary twist, perfect for embracing history while keeping that fabulous Pink Tutu flair!
Later that afternoon, it was off to the Galleria Borghese for some exquisite art and breathtaking beauty. The gallery's captivating Renaissance paintings and magnificent sculptures really captivated my imagination, And did I mention the beautiful garden? The manicured greenery and picturesque fountains made it the ideal setting for a spot of ballet inspired poses (don't worry, I was discreet!).
Fashion heaven awaits. No visit to Rome is complete without a little retail therapy! The streets are lined with designer boutiques, artisan shops and markets. I snagged a few unique pieces of jewellery and a gorgeous vintage hat, both of which are now proudly gracing my Pink Tutu wardrobe!
Friday was all about experiencing the vibrancy of Campo de' Fiori! The bustling atmosphere, colourful market stalls and enchanting street performers really transported me to the heart of Rome. I fell in love with the street entertainers performing classical music (it made me long to waltz through the market with a giant pink tutu, though thankfully, I restrained myself).
And of course, no trip to Rome is complete without a delicious plate of spaghetti carbonara and a scoop of creamy gelato! Rome really is the ultimate food paradise!
Saturday's performance at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma was a true highlight! The soaring melodies, passionate dancers and exquisite costumes transported me to a world of fantasy and artistry. The experience had me fantasizing about creating my own ballet company!
I ended my Roman adventure with a breathtaking view of the city from St. Peter's Basilica, feeling deeply inspired by its history and artistry.
Rome has captured my heart! It's a city filled with vibrant culture, history and magic, but more than anything, Rome reminds me that fashion is an expression of oneself, an art form that empowers us all to embrace our unique style. So darlings, wear your heart on your sleeve and your tutus with pride! Let your inner ballerina shine.
