Ciao, darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-wearing travel blogger Emma, here from the glorious city of Rome. As I pen these words, I'm perched on the window seat of a charming little cafe just off Piazza Navona, watching the world go by in a kaleidoscope of colours - just like my fabulous wardrobe! This week marks my first foray into this ancient metropolis, and I'm utterly smitten.
Train Travel - My Favourite Mode of Transport
My journey here was an absolute delight! I have a real passion for train travel - it's such a civilised and scenic way to get around. This time, I travelled in style from Derbyshire, my home county, in a beautiful sleeper carriage - complete with a comfy bed and even a morning croissant service. There's something truly magical about waking up in a different country, seeing the sun rise over a landscape painted in hues of pink and lavender - just like my beloved tutus!
Rome's Glamourous Underbelly
I arrived in Rome at lunchtime, a city brimming with the intoxicating scent of espresso, fresh bread, and - most importantly - fashion. Now, I love shopping as much as the next ballet dancer, and this city is a treasure trove of designer boutiques, vintage stores, and street markets just begging to be explored.
My First Rome Adventure
First on the itinerary, a visit to the Trevi Fountain. The crowds were out in force - but even amongst the throng, it was impossible not to feel the magic of this iconic landmark. Of course, I threw in my obligatory coin (for a return trip, naturally!) and then, in a move completely unexpected even by my own standards, spun a few twirls in front of the fountain - wearing, of course, a stunning pink tutu that would've made the Roman goddesses themselves envious.
Rome: Fashion & Shopping Paradise
After the fountain, it was straight into the shopping vortex! From the luxury ateliers on Via Condotti to the quirky vintage finds at Porta Portese flea market, my shopping bags are bursting with treasures. I have to admit, a tiny piece of Rome, maybe even a whisper of its elegance and beauty, seems to have made its way into my soul. I think the Roman gods are giving their blessing on this fashion escapade - perhaps the blessing of a fantastic new tutu design. Now, wouldn't that be divine?
Dinner & Entertainment
Tonight, I'm treating myself to a decadent dinner at a Michelin-starred restaurant in the heart of Rome. A pink tutu, perhaps a little too over-the-top for fine dining you might think, but my favourite stylist assures me this won't be an issue - just the perfect pairing with my ensemble for the night. It will be an evening to truly savour, with delicious food, fine wine, and maybe, just maybe, even a glimpse of Roman magic.
The Roman Colosseum
Tomorrow is a busy day - the Colosseum! I've heard incredible things about it and have been yearning to see its grandeur with my own eyes. I'm not one to shirk a challenge, so you bet I'll be putting my own dramatic flair into a dance piece against its historical backdrop, and trust me, darlings, you won't want to miss seeing it. I'm just hoping to catch a few scenes from the gladiatorial days. A perfect pink tutu moment for my next YouTube video - oh the stories that I'll tell...
