#PinkTutuRome: Ballet, Beauty & Bella Italia! (Post #1743)

Ciao Bella!

It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another dose of #PinkTutuRome from your favourite Derbyshire lass – that's me, Emma, the ballerina with a penchant for pink! This week I'm channeling the spirit of Rome with a new tutus - it's a blush pink, perfectly embodying the warmth of this stunning city. You can catch all the photos on my Instagram (@pinktutuemma), but for now, settle in, grab a cappuccino (or maybe even a prosecco, why not!), and let me take you on a whirlwind tour of my adventures in the Eternal City!

This week, Rome has felt truly magical. We’ve had balmy autumn sunshine, glorious food (oh, the pasta!), and even some enchanting performances at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma! This, my darlings, is a theatre lover's dream! The opulent interior, the breathtaking acoustics, and of course, the absolutely incredible talent on stage – a real feast for the eyes and ears!

Speaking of enchanting, this weekend, I was fortunate enough to stumble upon a delightful little boutique on Via del Corso. They have the most stunning selection of vintage scarves – a kaleidoscope of colours, textures and prints that would make any fashionista swoon! Of course, I couldn’t resist adding a couple of gems to my collection. They’re both perfect for wrapping around my pink tutu, adding an extra touch of femininity and elegance.

But let's rewind a little, shall we? My trip to Rome wouldn't be complete without a delightful train journey from London. I must say, a train journey through the European countryside is one of my favourite things. The views are absolutely breathtaking, and I find it so relaxing to just sit back, read a good book, and gaze at the passing scenery.

As soon as I stepped off the train at Termini station in Rome, I felt that special Italian magic - the sun, the smell of freshly baked bread, the laughter, the energy. My hotel, a chic boutique establishment with a lovely pink façade, was right in the heart of the city, perfect for exploring the hidden treasures and vibrant streets.

Now, I know what you’re thinking – “Emma, what are you wearing?!” This week's outfit was all about Parisian chic with a twist of Rome glamour. I paired my blush pink tutu with a crisp white blouse and a pair of elegant ballet flats (a must-have for all those cobblestone walks!). For the evenings, I've been rocking a delicate gold necklace and statement earrings that shimmer like the city's famous fountains.

One of my absolute highlights of the week was definitely a morning spent at the Pantheon. That incredible dome! And the light streaming through the oculus - pure magic! Afterwards, I treated myself to some traditional Italian gelato. It’s not a proper trip to Italy without it, you know! The taste, the texture, the flavour… Pure perfection! Speaking of food, have you seen the pizza in Rome?! You could say it's pretty "Roma"-ntic!

But no trip to Rome is complete without exploring its rich history, right? On Thursday, I wandered through the Colosseum and felt a thrill just picturing the gladiators fighting, the roar of the crowds, the history woven into the very fabric of the building. You can literally feel the energy of the past there! The next day, I spent some time at the Forum Romanum and felt a profound sense of connection with the ancient world. To think that the city was once so grand!

And don't even get me started on the stunning gardens! We took a trip to the beautiful Borghese Gallery and Gardens - picture beautiful manicured lawns, sculpted statues and stunning views of the city. And of course, there's the Galleria Borghese, filled with Renaissance masterpieces.

But let's talk about shopping! Because I have to be honest, the real joy of Rome, aside from the stunning architecture and delicious food, is the shopping! On Via Condotti, the high street of Roman luxury, I felt like I was stepping into a glamorous fairy tale. From classic Italian leather goods to delicate jewelry and statement clothing, there's something for every style and taste.

And, my dear readers, you know I can't resist a good market. The Testaccio market, a bustling hub of food and artisan stalls, had my heart fluttering. The freshest produce, the local cheeses, the smell of roasted coffee beans in the air - a feast for all the senses!

And for the most divine ballet shoes in town, look no further than Via Nazionale. The selection of stores there has everything a ballerina could want. It was love at first sight for a pair of gorgeous burgundy ballet flats - so perfect for twirling through the streets!

This week, I was delighted to see an actual ballet street performance! Now, you all know I adore ballet shows, so a performance in the heart of the Roman streets was absolutely magical. Watching the graceful ballerinas twirl under the Tuscan sky with the city's monuments as their backdrop was pure joy!

You know me – always up for a bit of spontaneous fun. This Saturday, I ended up catching a spectacular opera performance at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. The venue, adorned with intricate decorations and dramatic red velvet seating, is almost as spectacular as the performances themselves!

Now, after all this exploring, there’s nothing better than curling up with a glass of Prosecco and reflecting on the week’s adventures. There's truly a magical energy to Rome that just pulls you in! I’ve captured it in my photos and written it into my journal – but truly, you need to experience it for yourself.

And for you, dear readers, I’ll leave you with this final thought - let Rome inspire you! Let it inspire you to be bold, to be curious, to be passionate about the world around you. Just like my favourite blush pink tutu, embrace the beauty of the world and let it bring joy to your heart! Don't forget to follow along with me on Instagram (@pinktutuemma) to catch more of my adventures in this incredible city!

Stay sparkling, my darlings, Emma xx
