Ciao, darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad traveller, Emma, reporting live from the Eternal City, Rome! ??
This week, I'm positively giddy with excitement – we're finally in Italy! I've always dreamed of exploring this magical place, and to be here with my pink tutu in tow is truly a dream come true. Honestly, you can never go wrong with a touch of pink amidst all the Roman history and stunning architecture! ?
My journey started in Derbyshire, where I bid farewell to my little slice of England and boarded the train for Dover. It's a magical feeling, gliding through the countryside in a comfortable carriage, the world rushing past the window. My pink tutu made a grand entrance, of course, adding a splash of joy and whimsy to the commute.
After a quick ferry hop, I found myself in Paris – always a good time for a Parisian pit stop, wouldn't you agree? ? It wouldn't be a trip to Paris without a delightful ballet performance at the Opera Garnier, and you bet I sported my tutu in the audience. Seeing the elegance of the dancers twirling under the magnificent chandelier – pure magic!
My next stop? The heart of Italy – Rome! Arriving at Roma Termini station felt like stepping into a different world – a city buzzing with energy, history, and, of course, an endless supply of gelato.?
My hotel room is a dream come true – think bougainvillea-filled balconies and ornate wrought iron – and you just know there's going to be a picture-perfect Instagram snap or two happening from my very pink-tutu clad self. ?
First impressions? Rome is captivating! The cobbled streets, the Roman Forum, the Pantheon… every corner I turn feels like stepping back in time. And amidst all this ancient grandeur, there's a vibrancy, a buzz that's positively infectious. It’s an incredible blend of old and new, traditional and modern.
Day 1: The Colosseum & Pantheon
My first official day in Rome started with a visit to the iconic Colosseum. Imagine, darlings! Standing amidst the ruins where gladiators once fought! The scale of this amphitheatre is staggering. It's so evocative, it makes you feel like you're travelling back in time! And of course, my pink tutu had to make a grand entrance in this historical landmark – the perfect clash of colours, don't you think? ?
Later, we ventured to the Pantheon, another ancient masterpiece, and, in my opinion, even more magnificent than the Colosseum! That dome – how they managed to construct it back in ancient Rome is beyond me. It's breathtaking! My tutu twirled perfectly within those majestic pillars, and as usual, caused a flurry of smiles from fellow tourists!
Day 2: Fashion & Indulgence
No trip to Rome is complete without a shopping spree, darling. After all, who doesn't love a little retail therapy? And as you might guess, Rome has a fantastic selection of shops to indulge in. I, of course, was on a mission to find the perfect "Pink Tutu Rome" memento. ?️
I wandered through the cobblestone streets of the historic Monti neighbourhood, where designer boutiques rubbed shoulders with vintage treasures. I found a divine little shop tucked away down a side alley, where I bought myself the cutest little pink leather bag with a tiny ballet shoe charm attached – the perfect souvenir!
I was also lured in by a tantalizing smell, and found myself enjoying the most divine, pink-tinted gelato – a perfectly decadent treat. Italy is the home of gelato, and you can bet I’m planning on having a different flavour every day!
In the evening, I stumbled upon a small ballet studio in the heart of Trastevere. Now, this isn't exactly "professional," more like a small, local class with people of all ages and abilities, but the passion for the art form was evident in every twirl. Let's just say that it gave me the motivation to find a local class and join in for the next few weeks while I’m here.
The Perfect Pink Outfit for Rome
Let’s talk wardrobe! The Eternal City calls for outfits that combine the city's romantic, artistic flair with my signature Pink Tutu flair, darling.
For exploring the ancient wonders of the Colosseum and Pantheon, I opted for a classic white linen dress, cinched at the waist with a blush pink belt, and, of course, a stunning, tulle-layered pink tutu skirt on top.
A straw fedora hat provided some shade and added to the whimsical style, while comfy leather sandals made sightseeing a breeze. It was a beautiful, breezy outfit for the historical sights, and for an evening at the theatre! It truly was a sight to behold! ?
For an evening shopping spree and a spot of gelato, I went with a flowy pink floral midi skirt, a white crop top, and a chic, vintage-inspired blush pink handbag. A touch of blush eyeshadow and pink lipstick completed the look, highlighting the beautiful pink in my complexion! ✨
What’s on tomorrow?
Tomorrow’s going to be another adventurous day. First stop: The Trevi Fountain! Who doesn’t want to toss a coin into the fountain and make a wish? Then, I'll be hitting the city centre to search for more incredible vintage finds and then spending the evening at a beautiful street-performance show under the Tuscan stars – they say that Italian nights are truly something magical. Stay tuned, darlings! This adventure is just beginning, and I can’t wait to share all the colourful and delicious details with you next week.
To my readers, darlings! Remember to let me know in the comments what you'd love to see on my blog, whether it’s specific outfits, must-have beauty recommendations, travel tips, or even more photos of me wearing my pink tutu in beautiful Rome.
And as always, keep those pink tutus twirling, my lovelies. Remember, you’re beautiful and unique! ?
See you next Wednesday!
Emma xoxo
