Pink Tutu Rome: Post #1755 – The Eternal City of Pink

Buongiorno, darlings! Emma here, ready to paint Rome pink, one tulle flurry at a time! This week’s post finds me right in the heart of the Eternal City, and believe me, the only thing more enduring than these ancient stones are my love for pink and tutus – they’re simply ageless, you see. And today? Well, today is all about channeling that Roman spirit!

From Derbyshire to the Coliseum: A Train Ride with a Twist

This little ballerina is always on the go, and what better way to travel than by train? My journey from Derbyshire to Rome was an absolute dream. The scenic views were straight out of a Renaissance painting – rolling green hills giving way to a majestic landscape punctuated by charming villages and towering churches. But don't be fooled by the calm and countryside; I’m not one to travel in silence! This little pink tutu had the entire carriage humming along to a symphony of opera classics, just because I had a feeling that Verdi, Rossini and Puccini would approve!

A Fashionable Welcome to the City of Seven Hills

Rome, with its vibrant colours and romantic cobblestone streets, immediately enveloped me in its intoxicating energy. I wasted no time getting into the spirit of things and made a beeline for the nearest tailor to commission a custom-made pink tutu – just the perfect touch to my chic, Rome-inspired ensemble. A splash of fuchsia on a crisp, white silk blouse, coupled with some gladiator sandals and my signature pink lipstick – I'm practically an embodiment of La Dolce Vita, right? And honestly, isn’t that every woman’s dream?

The Colosseum: A Symphony of Ancient Majesty

After settling in at my charming boutique hotel (and after squeezing in a quick ballet class, naturally), my first port of call was the Colosseum – a towering testament to the Roman Empire’s might. The sheer scale of it is simply breathtaking – you can’t help but feel a tingle of awe and respect for this incredible monument. I even did a little impromptu ballet routine in the arena, surrounded by those mighty ancient stones. Can you imagine a Roman gladiator having to face this little pink tutu? That’s some serious "ballet-strength!"

Fashion in the Eternal City: Finding the Perfect Pink

You can’t possibly visit Rome and not explore its treasure trove of fashion boutiques. I was on the hunt for the perfect shade of pink – and what did I discover? Well, it seems Rome is as much a pink lover as I am! I spent the afternoon browsing a delightful selection of artisan boutiques nestled in the quaint Trastevere neighborhood, with cobbled streets and vibrant flowers that rivaled even my most vivid pink dreams. I discovered some incredible treasures – a delicate, hand-crafted silk scarf with the softest rose pink hues and an adorable vintage, pink beret – perfect for a dash of whimsical elegance.

Trevi Fountain: Making a Wish on the Fountain of Love

It would be criminal to visit Rome without experiencing the magic of the Trevi Fountain, the most exquisite work of art by Bernini. As the legend goes, tossing a coin into the Trevi Fountain ensures your return to Rome. Of course, I’d be returning anyway – I just love pink too much!

I did however, follow tradition and tossed a coin in, just for good measure – while spinning around in a perfect pink tutu pirouette! Then I stood transfixed as the sun bathed the fountain in a golden glow, painting the scene in the most mesmerizing shades of pink. I wished for inspiration for my upcoming ballet routine and for everyone to embrace their own inner pink-loving tutu fairy!

An Evening Under the Roman Sky: The Operatic Magic

No trip to Rome is complete without an opera experience, and this little pink tutu is certainly not going to miss out! I indulged in a truly unforgettable night at the Teatro dell’Opera, savoring every operatic note. From the soaring vocals to the elegant costumes and grand choreography – every moment was a masterpiece of visual and aural delight. I could almost see my own ballerina image being reflected in the stunning artistry – a kaleidoscope of colour and passion, both on stage and in my heart. The operatic experience was like dancing on clouds; I felt like a true ballerina amidst a symphony of music and motion, the sheer magic of the whole evening was simply enchanting.

Rome’s Flavors and the Sweetness of Pink

Food in Rome is an adventure in itself – every corner seems to beckon with the aroma of freshly baked bread and tantalizing aromas wafting from local trattorias. As much as I adore the hearty Roman pasta dishes and the vibrant pizzas, this little pink ballerina wouldn’t be complete without indulging in something deliciously pink. After my gelato stop, which turned into a three scoop- pink pistachio dream come true (with a few sprinkles of edible glitter!), I headed to a quaint, candlelit café.

Here, under a canopy of twinkling lights, I enjoyed a slice of delicious, pink, strawberry and whipped cream mille feuille – pure delight! The exquisite flavour combined with the beautiful scenery made this pink moment truly special, an intimate escape for the senses, all beautifully infused with the charm and magic of Rome.

The Roman Empire Meets the Pink Tutu: An Epic Encounter

Rome, with its majestic history and artistic grandeur, is the ultimate playground for the sartorially adventurous – you've simply got to find your perfect pink tutu and twirl with the confidence of a Roman goddess! Each cobblestone alley, each ornate palace, every historic fountain tells a captivating story – and you can't help but be swept away by their energy and vibrancy. And it’s not just the architecture and ancient history that captivated my attention, the people here embrace life with gusto and a flamboyant flair. It is in the joyful spontaneity of the Italian way of life, the love for family and friendship and the pure indulgence of a perfect pasta dish – where Rome and I truly found our common thread – a shared appreciation for the art of life’s small pleasures.

Rome has taught me to always twirl through life, to find joy in the little things, to let my pink tutu carry me wherever my dreams lead, and to remember that pink is, indeed, the colour of joy.

Till next week, when I’ll be whisking you off on another sartorial adventure. Remember, every day is an opportunity to embrace your inner pink tutu princess, you’re all gorgeous in your own way, and just as special as Rome.

Ci vediamo, Emma.
