Buongiorno, darlings! ☀️ It's Wednesday, which means it's time for a brand new Pink Tutu Rome adventure! This week, I've been waltzing through the Eternal City, and let me tell you, it's a whirlwind of cobblestones, gelato, and the most beautiful architecture you could ever imagine!
It all started, of course, with a train journey. You see, my fellow Tutu Twirlers, I am a big believer in the art of slow travel. Train travel is my absolute favourite way to experience a place, letting the scenery slowly roll by. Plus, I can easily pack my entire tutu collection and some fabulously sparkly ballet shoes! This week's journey, though, wasn't your typical scenic jaunt through the English countryside. No, darling, we travelled through the heart of France, gliding across the rolling hills of Provence. The landscape was so vibrant, bursting with the hues of sunflowers and lavender – a veritable palette of perfection. ?
And then, Rome. Oh, Rome! This city is truly magical. From the moment I stepped off the train and onto the platform, a wave of energy washed over me. The bustling crowds, the rhythmic hum of Italian voices, the intoxicating scent of freshly baked pastries - it felt like I was stepping onto a stage. And that, my darlings, is precisely the feeling I seek when I travel!
A Roman Day In Pink
Now, let me tell you a little bit about my day, which was, as you may have guessed, oh-so-perfectly pink. I started with a leisurely breakfast at a quaint cafe in the heart of Trastevere. I indulged in a cup of steaming cappuccino and a croissant as sweet as a dancer’s dream. Then, it was time for a wardrobe change! Today's look was all about vibrant pops of pink. I chose a beautifully-structured peplum top, the colour of a blush rose, paired with my go-to - a voluminous, cloud-like tulle tutu in the shade of candy floss. Let me tell you, you haven’t seen Rome until you’ve seen it through the eyes of a pink tutu. The city suddenly seems brighter, bolder, even a bit more whimsical. I truly believe that the right outfit can make the most ordinary day feel like a special occasion. ✨
Of course, no visit to Rome is complete without exploring its ancient wonders. I spent the afternoon lost in the heart of the Colosseum. The sheer scale of this monument was breathtaking. I envisioned gladiators battling it out on the sandy arena floor, the roar of the crowd filling the air. Imagine a grand ballet performance within these very walls, complete with pyrotechnics and dramatic choreography - my mind was absolutely reeling with possibilities!
Then came the grand finale of my Roman day - a stunning performance at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. I snagged the most fabulous seat in the house, right in the heart of the orchestra pit. And, let me tell you, it was an absolutely divine evening! The ballet was titled "Roma Bella", and it was a dazzling masterpiece showcasing the history and beauty of Rome through expressive dance. From the dramatic opening scenes featuring the grand fountains of Trevi to the vibrant final act inspired by the bustling streets of Trastevere, the entire performance felt like a grand tour of this magnificent city, a romantic journey through time and beauty.
And, as a tribute to the sheer artistry of ballet and the magic of this enchanting city, I adorned myself with a custom-made pink tulle tutu with shimmering, star-shaped embellishments, creating a truly heavenly stage for myself. Rome truly did feel like the most magical of all stage sets - every cobblestone a backdrop, every streetlight a spotlight, every gelato stall a potential dance floor.
