Pink Tutu Rome: #1791 - Exploring the Eternal City in Pink!

Ciao Bella! It's Emma from Pink Tutu, reporting live from the stunning, historic city of Rome. I can't believe it's already Wednesday, it feels like I only arrived yesterday. Rome is like a dream; a swirling vortex of ancient architecture, delicious food, and captivating street life. But of course, the best part is that I'm wearing pink!

As a self-proclaimed ambassador of all things pink and twirly, I wouldn't dream of travelling to the Eternal City without my signature pink tutu. You know the saying - 'when in Rome, wear pink and twirl'! It just adds a little something special, don't you think? ?

I flew in on Sunday, taking a direct flight from London Gatwick, a total breeze for a fellow traveller like me who prefers train travel (a topic for another post, perhaps?). As I was navigating through customs, the sound of my pink tutu rustling against my suitcase almost became a melody, attracting curious stares and shy smiles from fellow travellers. See? I'm already spreading the joy of pink tutus to the world. It truly is a magical accessory.

Rome welcomed me with open arms – the weather's perfect, the sky a stunning azure, and even the traffic seems to be humming a slow, graceful Italian melody. I instantly fell in love with the city’s charm, the way it blends old with new, classical with contemporary, and how every corner unveils a new story waiting to be discovered.

Fashion-forward Rome

Yesterday, I found myself in the chic boutiques of Via Condotti, where the air was filled with the scents of fine leather and the sounds of heels clicking against the polished marble floor. It was like stepping into a glamorous fairytale! Oh, the clothes! My heart skipped a beat with every new window display - Italian style truly has a captivating allure. Of course, no trip to Rome would be complete without a little splurge on some stylish pieces. I came away with a beautiful coral-coloured silk scarf and a pair of handcrafted, Italian leather boots that would have any fashionista swooning.

In the evening, I indulged in a little "me time" with a relaxing stroll through the Piazza Navona. The energy there was so captivating; the street performers, the bustling food vendors, and the beautiful music in the air… I felt like a ballerina, spinning in a sea of creativity. Even though I was the only one in a pink tutu, I didn't feel self-conscious for a second. Instead, it felt like the perfect way to embrace the vibrant spirit of Rome!

Speaking of ballerinas, guess what? Tonight I'm attending a ballet performance at the Teatro dell’Opera! I can hardly contain my excitement. I’ve been planning this part of the trip ever since I booked the tickets – ballet in the heart of Rome. It's going to be magical. This performance features a beautiful production of “Giselle.” Imagine it - all that passion and grace under the glorious Italian night sky. Oh, I can’t wait to share my experience with you!

Exploring the city

Today was a day for exploration. After a leisurely breakfast (which involved indulging in the most delicious pastries ever!), I traveled by the metro, the way the locals do. It was super convenient. Remember my pink tutu? It naturally drew a few curious looks on the metro. It’s the joy of wearing a pink tutu: it invites conversations. I found myself chatting with a group of friendly ladies. One even confessed that she'd been dreaming of owning a tutu since she was a little girl! They said they just needed a push, a little Pink Tutu inspiration. You see? Spreading the pink tutu love comes naturally!

Next up was the Trevi Fountain, the biggest attraction on my list. As I approached this iconic landmark, the sheer size of it made me gasp! I'd seen pictures, but nothing could have prepared me for the breathtaking scale and beauty of the Trevi Fountain. I tossed a coin over my shoulder for good luck (you know the tradition!). While admiring its magnificent structure, I just knew I had to take a photo… So I did, naturally in a full pirouette, twirling under the fountain's sparkling water. Because, when you're in Rome, you twirl in pink.

Finding a hidden gem

In the afternoon, I stumbled upon this hidden gem of a vintage boutique tucked away in a narrow alley. I'm a total sucker for vintage treasures, and this shop was filled with so many amazing finds – silky dresses, beautiful vintage shoes, and hats with such personality! I found myself chatting with the owner, a sweet lady with twinkling eyes, who revealed the story of the shop's history and how it became a local favourite. The atmosphere there was magical. I left with an exquisite, powder pink hat – just imagine my delight!

Food, Food, glorious food

Rome is a culinary haven. From mouth-watering pizzas and fresh pasta dishes to heavenly gelatos, the city truly spoils you with delicious experiences. It’s almost impossible not to eat something tasty around every corner. This evening, I’m having a romantic, solo dinner under the twinkling stars, in a charming little trattoria nestled between narrow streets. I'll be savouring a plate of carbonara - the most decadent, cheesy, and rich pasta dish I've ever had.

And now, as the day starts to fade and the golden hues paint the sky in magical shades of orange and purple, I sit at my little table by the window, enjoying the last rays of sun. Rome's enchanting vibe lingers in the air, mixed with the sweet fragrance of blooming flowers from a nearby flower stall. This magical city truly has it all, from historical wonders to fashion, delectable food, and an enchanting, almost otherworldly beauty.

And my trusty pink tutu has been my companion for every step of this whirlwind of discovery! If there's one thing I’ve learned in Rome, it’s that there's nothing like a vibrant splash of colour and a little twirl to brighten even the most mundane moments. So let me tell you, if you ever have the chance to explore this magical city, be sure to embrace the joie de vivre – and don’t forget to pack a pink tutu.

Ciao for now!

Yours in Pink, Emma
