Worthing Wonderland: Tutu Tales and Train Tracks

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, and welcome to post number 10 of my little corner of the internet, www.pink-tutu.com! Today, I'm brimming with excitement to tell you about my fabulous weekend adventure to Worthing, a charming seaside town in sunny Sussex. Now, if you know me, you know that my motto is: 'Life's too short to not wear a pink tutu' (and a dash of glitter never hurts!) and Worthing certainly provided the perfect backdrop for some Tutu-tastic fun.

The journey itself was pure magic, as always! I chose to travel by train, and oh my goodness, those carriage windows offered the most breathtaking views of the English countryside. Lush green fields dotted with sleepy villages and sleepy sheep... just the kind of scenery that puts my creative juices flowing and inspires my inner ballerina. A glass of chilled Prosecco and a good book (a biography on Margot Fonteyn, naturally!) and the time just melted away.

Arriving at Worthing Station was like stepping into a vintage postcard. The Victorian architecture and charming seafront were just the things to put me in a bubbly mood. Now, I wouldn't be true to myself if I didn't pack my most flamboyant pink tutu (this one, my lovelies, is adorned with sparkling butterflies, just whispering a love for all things beautiful). As I strutted through the station, a few surprised but delighted smiles lit up the faces of those around me. It’s always a joy spreading the Tutu love, don’t you agree?

First stop? A visit to the Worthing Museum and Art Gallery! They have the most delightful collection of paintings and sculptures, some dating back to the 19th century, showcasing the rich history of Worthing and its famous seafront. Now, I'm not a history buff, but the Victorian paintings with those grand ladies in their billowing gowns inspired me to whip out my Tutu and pose dramatically in front of one particularly imposing piece. Let’s just say that museum guard was shocked But you know me, never let a little 'Don’t touch the art' sign stop your fun! I’m thinking of opening up an art museum one day, just dedicated to pink tutus. Who’s with me?!

Onwards to the seafront! I practically danced along the promenade, the salty air filling my lungs and the sound of the waves serenading me. A crisp afternoon breeze, the scent of salt, and a gorgeous, pink, butterfly tutu. It was the most incredible combination of pure joy. And who says you can’t dance in a pink tutu in public?! I caught a few sideways glances and the odd confused stare, but let me tell you, nothing felt more right than waltzing along the pebbled shore, the sea breeze lifting the pink fabric around me like a ballet dancer’s pirouette.

It wouldn't be a proper visit to the seaside without a delicious fish and chips, right? So I popped into this quaint little shop, "The Salty Seagull", and indulged in the most delightful, crispy cod. Now, if you think a pink tutu doesn’t pair well with fish and chips, you’ve got another think coming! Let me tell you, the sheer glamour of this tutu even brought the seagulls swooning. I’m convinced there was a seagull perched on the chip shop wall looking utterly jealous that I didn’t throw him any chips. Don’t you worry little feathered friend, he wasn’t the only one left feeling peckish.

And no seaside visit is complete without a splash! Well, maybe not literally in my Tutu, but I took a gentle stroll along the beach, breathing in the fresh sea air and feeling the sand between my toes.

Worthing, I must say, had so many gems. From a beautiful promenade dotted with stunning Victorian architecture, quaint shops, and the most adorable little ice cream parlour that actually had pink cones… it felt like a little piece of paradise, tailored to the Tutu-loving ballerina in me.

You know what’s great about wearing a pink tutu? You attract attention, of course! This meant chatting to locals, hearing their stories and witnessing how much life blooms in this quaint little seaside town. One dear lady, Mildred, was enthralled by the tutu and shared her memories of being a young ballet dancer, her face lit up with a mischievous twinkle. "It's wonderful, dear! Such beautiful color. And remember, darling, life’s too short to live without a touch of pink." Wise words indeed, Mildred! Turns out she’s just as glamorous as she was when she was a ballet dancer, even in her eighties!

Evening descended with a symphony of orange and purple, and I treated myself to a delightful performance at the Worthing Theatres. Now, my darlings, the performance itself? Well, you just have to see it for yourself! But imagine, if you will, an enchanting ballet performance featuring exquisite costumes, expressive dancers, and the perfect blend of traditional grace with a touch of modern artistry. It truly transported me into a world of elegance and beauty.

Of course, no ballet performance would be complete without my trusty Tutu! You'll find it hard to resist dancing along with a vibrant pink butterfly tutu. Just a hint of glitter and whimsy! This is my motto.

As the night drew to a close, I realised that this little seaside adventure had far more than just the ocean waves to offer. It was the perfect blend of history, art, a little bit of silly Tutu magic, and an air of enchantment that lingers long after the final curtain falls.

Worthing, you’ve truly captured a piece of my heart, with your beautiful charm, beautiful beach, and stunning performances. My suitcase may have been full of the memories, but it’s my heart that is full of a fresh wave of love and appreciation. Thank you, Worthing, for making this a weekend to remember!

And until next time, darling readers, I leave you with this - life's too short not to wear a pink tutu, so go forth, be brave, embrace the world, and maybe just maybe… dance!
