Chester: A Pink Tutu Paradise! (Blog Post #66)

Hello, lovelies! Emma here, and as always, I’m bringing you all the latest pink-tutu-filled adventures from the world of ballet! 🩰 Today, I’m sharing my most recent trip, a whirlwind jaunt to the historic city of Chester, where the pink tutus truly flourished!

It wouldn’t be a trip without a dash of pink, would it? As the train journey chugged through the charming Derbyshire countryside (how I adore a good train ride!), I found myself lost in contemplation, contemplating the magic of pink. It’s the colour of sunshine, of smiles, of playful energy - exactly what my heart needed for a weekend filled with ballet brilliance!

Of course, no Emma adventure is complete without a new pink tutu. I’d managed to snag a gloriously flamboyant number with layers of shimmering tulle and a playful pom-pom trim that practically shouted “I’m here to twirl and delight!” I’m certain you’ll see it popping up in plenty of snaps throughout this post. 💖

My Chester adventure began with a visit to the historic city centre, a place overflowing with quaint cobblestone streets, half-timbered buildings, and a most delightful independent shop that specialises in, wait for it… tutus! The owner, a bubbly lady with the kindest eyes and a twinkle in her own gaze, had a collection of vintage and bespoke tutus that had me practically gasping for air. I left, of course, with a small pile of treasure, a pale pink, floral patterned number for my wardrobe collection, ready to make its debut at my next class.

Later, we went for a delightful riverside walk, following the curve of the River Dee, where I even caught a glimpse of a mischievous family of otters playing in the shallows! There’s nothing quite like the peace and tranquility of the English countryside, especially when accompanied by playful wildlife. The pink of my tutu felt perfectly at home against the backdrop of lush green grass and willows weeping over the water.

As evening descended, the city of Chester lit up in a kaleidoscope of light. We wandered through the Rows, marveling at the unique shop fronts and ancient architecture. Dinner at a charming pub nestled in the heart of the city was a culinary delight – roast lamb and local vegetables, the flavours of which I’ll forever cherish. It's always those little local gems that steal your heart, don’t you think?

The next day, a highlight awaited me! A beautiful ballet performance, the story of ‘Coppelia’ performed by the Cheshire Ballet Theatre! The sheer beauty of the costumes, the masterful leaps, and the exquisite grace of the dancers transported me to another world, a world of magic and elegance. Every step was a work of art, and I found myself mesmerised by the seamless transitions, the breathtaking artistry of the ballet, and the power of dance to tell a story without words. The ballet performance in Chester felt like a beautiful conversation with a story of dreams and hopes, whispered on the tips of their dancing shoes.

I'm not just about tutus and dancing, mind you! (Although that's certainly a very significant portion of my world.) The adventure continued with a delightful picnic lunch on a sunny meadow, the colours of nature dancing before me – blues of the skies, greens of the grass, and the delicate yellow of wild sunflowers. I was simply overwhelmed by the joy of the world, by the beauty and wonder that surrounds us all.

Before you ask, yes, I was in my pink tutu, because how else would I capture the perfect picture?

Emma 💖🩰💕
