Carlisle Calling! Pink Tutu Post #83

Hello my darling dance divas!

It's Emma here, back with another post from your favourite pink tutu-clad travel blogger. Today, I'm whisking you away to the charming city of Carlisle!

My trusty steed, the Settle-Carlisle line, sped me up to the North West at a record-breaking pace. The scenery was absolutely divine – think rolling green hills dotted with charming little villages, perfect for a picturesque train journey! I was totally engrossed in the view so I practically skipped over to my compartment.

Once in Carlisle, I couldn't help but feel like a princess stepping into a fairytale. A castle stands proudly in the city's heart, its turrets reaching for the sky – perfect inspiration for a magical ballerina! It felt so dreamy, I could almost hear tinkling bells and giggling fairies!

The cobblestone streets led me on a whimsical adventure. There are so many delightful shops to explore! It was a complete delight just window shopping. I picked up a gorgeous pink silk scarf with a swirling pattern that just reminded me of twirling tutus! You can imagine me swishing that gorgeous silk around and pretending I was dancing!

But the best bit? Carlisle's charming ballet school! I was positively giddy at the thought of spending some time in their studio. They had an open class for aspiring dancers – and who am I to resist? I slipped on my new pink tulle tutu – I just had to bring a new outfit to show off!

The class was amazing. We danced our hearts out to beautiful, whimsical music that brought all the fairytales I had read as a little girl to life. Every turn felt like flight, and every arabesque like a graceful whisper to the wind. Honestly, it's amazing to feel how expressive you can be in the studio!

After the class, I treated myself to the most delicious afternoon tea. I'm talking clotted cream, scrumptious cakes, and the perfect cup of English Breakfast tea. It was truly the most lovely treat after such a wonderfully energetic ballet class.

But it wouldn't be Carlisle without a touch of magic!

Later that evening, the castle came to life with a delightful outdoor theatre production of Midsummer Night's Dream! There was something about seeing Puck and Titania frolic in the twilight glow, right beneath the old walls of Carlisle Castle, that made my heart leap. It felt like a perfect combination of history and whimsical artistry – just like a fairytale.

I even had a chat with the leading lady – her movements were graceful, but she said she struggled to get back into the mood for the performances every evening! I couldn’t help myself, I told her about how wearing pink tutus can lift my mood in any situation and that it was probably worth giving it a try – I know how much it helped me, that’s for sure! I also mentioned that there are lots of beautiful ballet shoes in pink now, it’s no longer a myth! It seems I'm a real inspiration - it's always a pleasure to help out others with the joys of ballet!

As the play drew to a close, the moonlight painted a shimmering silver across the ancient stones, leaving a trail of magical dust in the air.

You see, that’s what’s so great about a place like Carlisle: the old stones whisper of history, the city streets churn with modern life, but underneath it all there's a beautiful fairy-tale charm that's waiting to be discovered. I always find something magical when I explore these hidden little corners of England!

So if you’re looking for an escape from the ordinary, a place where history whispers tales of romance, and you’re always looking for that little bit of magic, pack your dancing shoes and get on the train – Carlisle awaits! Just remember to bring your pink tutu, darlings!
