South Shields Sparkle: Post 84

Hey lovelies!

It's Emma here, your pink tutu-loving, ballet-obsessed blogger, and I'm bursting at the seams with excitement to tell you all about my recent trip to South Shields! This little seaside town, nestled in the northeast of England, has been calling to me for ages. I've always had a soft spot for coastal towns – the salty air, the crashing waves, and the sheer peace that washes over you as you stand and watch the endless blue.

This time, however, I had a special purpose in mind. I wasn't just there to enjoy the bracing sea breeze; I wanted to bring a bit of ballet magic to this beautiful town. And you know what? Let's just say, South Shields absolutely embraced it!

This is, of course, all thanks to my little pink tutu companion. Today's tutu was a special one. You know how much I love a good floral design? This time, I decided to let nature be my muse, and oh, did it ever deliver!

Imagine a tutu that whispers of woodland adventures and gentle breezes. Think cascading leaves, dancing butterflies, and delicate wild flowers, all woven into the most gorgeous shade of blush pink you can imagine. Honestly, the moment I slipped it on, I felt like a graceful woodland sprite!

This tutu needed a special occasion to debut. So I booked a little mini trip, catching a train, of course, to South Shields, and I made a beeline for the absolutely charming Souter Lighthouse, which overlooks the beach and, quite frankly, took my breath away.

Picture this: I stood atop the lighthouse, the wind whipping through my hair and the scent of the salty sea air on my face. I looked out at the turquoise ocean, dotted with tiny white sailboats, and let the beauty of it all wash over me. And you know what? That’s exactly what this tutu deserves. The majestic, stunning view from that lighthouse, the waves crashing against the shore, the gulls screaming in the sky. A ballet on the rocks and wind-swept sands, and just for this special moment, I knew I had made the perfect tutu choice.

For a little whimsy, I popped my trusty pink butterfly hair clip in my curls. I may be a Derbyshire lass at heart, but these shores hold a special place in my heart.

We mustn’t forget, the main purpose of my journey, after all, was to bring some tutu joy to South Shields. And boy did it! Everyone was so delighted, curious and eager to have their photo taken with the "pink tutu girl". Children were shrieking with glee, men were nodding approvingly (maybe admiring my amazing knee-high pink boots too?) and the women – well, let’s just say, they wanted a bit of the tutu magic too!

Now, I’ve already received tons of comments on the website about this particular look. Many are asking me for advice on how to start with a tutu. So here’s what I say – why wait? Find a tutu that speaks to you – one with a pattern you love or a colour you feel great in. Try it on. Feel like a ballerina. You don't even need to be a ballerina to do it! A pink tutu is not just a ballet item, it’s a way of life, an attitude. If you're worried about what other people will think, well, remember what I said: life’s too short not to wear a tutu!

We walked through the bustling South Shields market. My tutu wasn’t too impractical, so I managed to weave around stalls of handmade jewellery and fresh produce without causing too much chaos (although, some cheeky little children tried to grab my tutu, and that was cute, even if a little alarming for my new and expensive tutu!). The vibrant atmosphere, the laughter, the smells, the happy buzz of activity. I wanted to spin around, to show everyone just how joyful this day had been. But I also needed to savour every moment, every bit of South Shields magic.

Of course, no trip to a seaside town is complete without fish and chips. So I found a quaint little café tucked away on the harbourfront and tucked into a delicious (and surprisingly healthy, as it was fish and chips from a bakery!), crispy treat, enjoying the panoramic views.

And while I'm here, I couldn't resist snapping some photos of the beautiful coastline. From the sheer rock cliffs of Whitburn to the colourful beaches of Tynemouth, it’s clear to see that South Shields is a truly unique and stunning corner of the world. And of course, my trusty tutu became the star of these coastal snapshots. It really is an amazing companion for travel! It's so adaptable! A tutu never fails to add a dash of magic to any location. It's truly an investment that will see you through a lifetime of fabulous occasions!

As the day drew to a close, I boarded the train, my tutu nestled by my side, ready for its next adventure. This time, it wasn't just my pink tutu that had been on a journey of discovery; I too, had discovered the heart of South Shields. And yes, you guessed it, this is going straight on to my travel plans! And I urge you to check out South Shields, too. It really is one of the UK's best hidden gems.

Speaking of hidden gems, this post marks my 84th blog entry! How amazing is that?! Thanks for sticking with me on this journey!

Have you got any trip plans coming up, and have you tried a tutu yet? If so, tell me all about it in the comments below! Until next time, lovelies.

Yours in pink, Emma
