#TutuBlog Post #90: A German Tutu Adventure!

1st October 1996

Good morning darlings! Today I'm feeling utterly, completely pink-tastic. After weeks of anticipation, my trip to Germany is finally here. I packed my travel case with my absolute favourite, glittery pink tutu, ready for a ballet adventure of epic proportions.

But first, the journey! I always love train travel. You get the most amazing views, especially as I'm travelling through some of the most beautiful landscapes Europe has to offer. The lush, rolling countryside whizzing past my window makes me feel like I'm in a vintage movie, full of romance and glamour. Plus, I love the sense of anticipation that builds as you get closer to your destination. Oh, and I can't resist a good old fashioned train picnic. This time I'm treating myself to some fabulous croissants from the bakery downstairs. Nothing like a bit of French sophistication to make a trip feel even more special, darling.

As I write this, the train's pulling into Munich - such a stunning city! Just a few minutes from the station and I'm already surrounded by traditional architecture, gorgeous cobbled streets and, oh my word, so many incredible shops! I can't wait to explore them and find some truly unique pink treasures.

Ballet Dreams in Munich

Speaking of treasures, my real reason for coming here is to catch the Bavarian State Ballet's performance of Swan Lake. I’m utterly smitten with Swan Lake, and Munich’s production is legendary. From the first glimpse of the breathtaking neoclassical building that houses the theatre to the whispered buzz of the audience settling in, everything screams "elegance" and "art."

But wait for it, darlings, the ballet itself is simply breathtaking! I’ve seen Swan Lake performed numerous times, but nothing prepares you for the raw passion and intricate choreography of this Munich rendition. The dancers are incredibly gifted - every graceful gesture and precise leap simply made me melt! I even got to have a quick chat with one of the soloists afterwards – she was the most charming young woman, and she promised me a backstage tour!

After such a stunning performance, you bet I'm craving a proper ballerina's treat – a delicious hot chocolate and a selection of freshly baked goodies from the local patisserie. It's all in the name of post-ballet relaxation, naturally.

Life in the Pink Lane

After my fabulous foray into the world of ballet, I’m embracing all the cultural treasures of this wonderful city. The beautiful art galleries, the majestic churches, the picturesque markets buzzing with local life… I’m living a dream! And of course, it wouldn’t be a proper #TutuBlog post without a spot of fashion talk! I’ve fallen completely head over heels for Munich's unique style. From the beautiful vintage boutiques overflowing with treasures to the edgy, contemporary designs you find everywhere, this city oozes a confidence and individuality I love.

Pinks and tutus everywhere

There's even a street here known as 'Pink Lane'! Yes, you heard right, an entire lane dedicated to the most fabulous color imaginable. I was simply overjoyed. Imagine my excitement as I discovered vintage shops crammed with blush-toned handbags and powder-pink silk scarves, rows and rows of beautiful pinks bursting with vibrant life. I had to buy everything, naturally! My credit card is crying a bit, but I figure a little treat for the fashion-loving heart is always worthwhile.

*And the tutu’s?! * They are simply divine. Munich is the undisputed king of the "tutu" world, darling. It is clear that everyone here loves ballet and dance. I spotted tutus on every corner. From shop displays showcasing them like works of art, to young ballerinas prancing around in their practice tutus - a beautiful sight. Honestly, this city is a true ballet lover's dream, and it makes me yearn to see more of the world and its endless opportunities for dancing and discovery.

A German tutu delight

I couldn't resist buying myself a brand new tutu from a little boutique tucked away on Pink Lane. It's a beautiful lilac number with an ombre effect, soft pink ruffled layers cascading towards the ground - oh darling, it’s practically begging for a tutu twirl on stage! As I write this, it hangs pride of place on my bedroom door, reminding me of the fabulous experiences I've had here.

I am dreaming of sharing a hot chocolate with my German tutu, on the next horse-drawn carriage ride. Germany, I love you!

Keep an eye on #pink-tutu.com to follow my adventures. Until next time, my lovely little ballet birds!
