Chingford Calling: Tutu Adventures & Pink Dreams (Blog Post #91)

Hey lovelies!

It's your girl Emma, signing in from the beautiful, slightly-less-than-beautiful Chingford! Let me tell you, after spending the last few weeks hoofing it (well, dancing, really) across Europe, even the most stunning ballet set can start to feel likeā€¦wellā€¦a stage!

I was actually feeling a little overwhelmed by the whole 'travelling-in-tutus' thing. You see, my life goal isn't just to wear pink tutus, it's to inspire everyone to wear pink tutus! But, like a dear old Derbyshire auntie once said, ā€œYou can't make an omelet without breaking some eggs, darling, and sometimes that means letting the omelet be a bitā€¦grey, if you catch my drift."

Italian Tutu Time!

So, this week, I took a bit of a step back. My dear friend Florence - you know, sheā€™s the one who designs those gorgeous floral tutus - had been pushing me to try out some new ideas for her spring line. This included an unexpected Italian adventure. It's so good to work with Florence. She really brings my dream life into reality!

Thinkā€¦ Rome, sunshine, gelato, cobbled streets... and my own personal Italian-inspired tutu! She's designing a whole line called ā€œRoma Romanticaā€ and it is honestly giving me so many feels. Florence really has this magical touch. The fabric is flowing silk, like a dream come true! I could have twirled all day longā€¦and believe me, I pretty much did.

Train Travels & the Urban Dance

How did I get to Rome, you ask? By train of course! Nothing beats the slow pace of a long train journey for getting those creative juices flowing. You really get a feel for the landscape, you know? The rolling hills, the grazing sheep, all those cute farm animalsā€¦ Honestly, if I didn't love dancing so much, I'd be a farmer, raising cute farm animals in the middle of a big field full of pink flowers, with my own bespoke animal-tutus made by Florenceā€¦ maybe Iā€™ll try a horse one day. We'll see how that works!

Oh, but wait, letā€™s talk Chingford! It was a whirlwind trip. Ballet performance for a local charity fundraiser! And it really felt like the perfect balance to my Italian escapades.

Now, this was no ordinary stage production, darling. It was ballet on the streets! In a car park, no less! The energy in that space, all that concrete and graffiti, really just asked for something to take over, to make it something more, somethingā€¦ magical.

You know what I'm talking about, right? It was like this tiny bit of magic, twirling, leaps and arabesques in a seemingly normal world. And trust me, when those spotlights came on and the music startedā€¦Chingford was no ordinary place anymore.

Bringing Ballet to Everyone

This is what I love about ballet! It transcends. You see it in a dusty old theatre, on the cobbled streets of Italy, even in the corner of a car parkā€¦ And itā€™s this kind of diversity that makes it so exciting, you know?

And thatā€™s what this whole pink tutu adventure is about. Itā€™s about finding that inner spark, that magic, that love for life. Itā€™s about bringing ballet to the people, and bringing a little bit of pink joy to everyone, whether itā€™s a charity fundraiser in Chingford or a theatrical performance in Florence.

Weā€™ve all got a ballerina inside. We all deserve a chance to twirl. Maybe we can all wear pink. And maybe one day, all that'll be left are happy pink tutu memoriesā€¦

Stay fabulous, and keep those pink tutus on hand. You never know when they might be needed!

With love and twirls, Emma x
