Ramsgate: A Whirlwind of Pink and Plié 🩰

Hello my lovely tutu-ettes! 💖

It’s Emma here, signing in from a blustery but beautiful Ramsgate! I'm so excited to share this incredible adventure with you - post number 172 on my pink-tutu odyssey! As always, you can find all my musings and mayhem on www.pink-tutu.com

Today's journey began with a whistle-stop train ride from Derbyshire, my trusty pink suitcase nestled beside me. There's just something magical about chugging through the countryside - the wind in your hair, the changing landscape whizzing past... pure ballet inspiration!

Speaking of inspiration, Ramsgate itself is a real gem. I absolutely adored the vibrant harbour with its colourful fishing boats and the charming cobblestone streets lined with cute tea shops. It feels like stepping back in time!

The Italian Tutu Affair

This trip, however, wasn't just about exploring a new town, but about discovering a new love... a new tutu!

You see, my darling readers, I have a weakness. A complete and utter weakness for tutus. But not just any tutus. My favourite ones are the vintage ones - the ones with a bit of history, a story woven into their delicate layers. I love the way the fabric feels, the colours that have faded and the little imperfections that tell a tale of countless pirouettes.

Well, a little birdie told me about a hidden gem in Ramsgate: a vintage clothing store that specialises in, you guessed it, dancewear! I found it nestled down a charming cobbled alley, and when I peeked inside, it was like a pink dream come true! The air was thick with the scent of lavender and faded silk.

I felt like a girl again, with my nose pressed up against the glass, looking longingly at a display of magnificent, dusty tutus, each one whispering a forgotten dance. And then, my eyes fell upon it… a beautiful, delicate, Italian tutu - pure silk in shades of pale blush, with shimmering, gold sequins. I practically gasped. I was in love! I know I shouldn't get my hopes up, but it's definitely a contender for my next dance-floor dream!

A Dance Along the Pier

Of course, no trip to the seaside would be complete without a trip to the pier! The gentle rhythm of the waves crashing against the wooden planks seemed to sway my entire being, beckoning me to pirouette. I found myself practicing a few barre exercises, feeling the salty air on my skin and the sea breeze twirling around me like a feathered tutu.

There was a sense of freedom there on the pier, a lightness in the air that resonated with the ballerina in me. It felt as though I was dancing on air, each step a whisper to the sky, the sea and all its magic.

I couldn't help but share the beauty of this moment with everyone around me! So, I decided to perform a quick impromptu ballet routine, a little street theatre right there on the pier.

It was an exhilarating experience! It doesn't matter what style of music or dance, as long as you're enjoying yourself. And as always, I made a few new tutu-ettes in the process - even the grumpy seagulls seemed to be entranced!

Ballet Dreams & Wildlife Wonders

This trip, however, was more than just a sartorial escape; it was also about discovering the heart and soul of this little coastal town. I went for a wander through the Ramsgate Museum, delving into the fascinating history of this place - I even learnt a bit about the life of Mary Quant! Did you know she started her fashion empire in London before she found fame and success in America? Who knew?

Later, I wandered down to the beach, which was bustling with a mixture of wildlife - a whole host of fluffy seagulls looking for a treat, playful sea dogs enjoying the sun, and even some shy little crabs scuttling along the shore! I absolutely love spotting the wildlife in coastal areas!

You know, watching those seagulls dart and dive, I can’t help but be reminded of the graceful ballet dancers who fly across the stage! Even wildlife has their own form of choreography, don’t you think? I can't get enough of it!

The Tutu Journey Continues

I'm feeling so inspired, you guys! This trip has filled me with so much joy, wonder and of course, new ideas for pink tutu adventures!

As you know, my ultimate goal is to get everyone twirling in a pink tutu. But more importantly, to make the world a brighter, more graceful and more expressive place. Every step we take - in a pink tutu or not - should be a testament to the power of passion, self-expression and pure unadulterated joy!

So keep twirling my dearest tutu-ettes. Remember, the world is your stage!

Until next time,

Emma x
