Abingdon Adventures: A Pink Tutu in the Cotswolds (Post #208)

Hello darlings! It’s Emma here, back with another post from my adventures in the world of ballet and pink. Today, I’m whisking you away to the charming Cotswolds town of Abingdon, where I spent the weekend exploring quaint streets, enjoying a delicious afternoon tea, and even seeing a fab ballet performance at a local theatre!

Oh, my dears, Abingdon was utterly delightful! I took the train, naturally, the rhythmic clattering and scenic views making for a thoroughly romantic journey. I practically floated through the town, my tulle skirt catching the crisp Cotswolds air. I was so smitten with the beautiful houses, many dating back centuries, adorned with wisteria and blooming roses. Even the ducks on the Thames looked stylish in their bright feathers.

The pièce de résistance of my trip had to be the theatre performance. The Abingdon Playhouse, a beautifully preserved Victorian building, held an intimate performance of a new work called "Threads of Fate," based on Greek mythology. It was a thrilling production, with strong dancing, beautiful costumes, and a wonderful story. My dear, the choreography was absolutely breathtaking! I'm such a sucker for contemporary ballet, and this one just ticked all the boxes. I even spotted some nods to ballet street - very inspiring!

After the show, I had a rather delicious afternoon tea at a little tea room tucked away in a side street. Pink china, fluffy cakes, and steaming pots of tea - I couldn't resist having an extra scone or two (they were just too yummy!). As I sipped my Earl Grey, I gazed out of the window and marvelled at the slow pace of life in Abingdon. It felt like time was standing still, and I felt a profound sense of peace wash over me.

Of course, I wouldn't be true to my name or my love for all things pink if I hadn't done some souvenir shopping! The local gift shops were a veritable treasure trove of pink delights. I bought myself a pair of fluffy pink slippers (perfect for ballet class), a dainty pink hair clip for my curls, and a charming little porcelain pig wearing a pink tutu - what a fabulous memento of my weekend!

As I packed my bag for my journey back to Derbyshire, I couldn’t help but feel a twinge of sadness at leaving this charming town behind. But I knew I was taking with me not just some pretty souvenirs, but also a newfound appreciation for the beautiful Cotswolds and its captivating charm. And the inspiration for my next blog post - perhaps an Abingdon-themed ballet piece?

Remember darlings, a pink tutu and a love for ballet can truly make any journey, big or small, a delightful adventure! Now, tell me, what are your favorite travel destinations? Where have you been recently that stole your heart? I’m always eager to hear about your own adventures, and I'm even more eager to see you wearing your pink tutu – whether it’s for a stroll through the park, a picnic in the countryside, or even a night out on the town!

Until next time, keep dancing, keep dreaming, and keep believing in the power of pink!

Love,

Emma xx
