Hammersmith - A Whirlwind of Tutu-tastic Goodness (Post 313)

Darling readers,

Oh my goodness, you will NEVER believe what a fabulous weekend I had in the beautiful city of London! I absolutely adore visiting the capital, with its buzzing atmosphere, historic landmarks and endless opportunities to indulge in a spot of fabulous dancing. This trip was extra special though, as I got to see an incredible show at the wonderful Hammersmith Apollo, and boy, was it extravagant.

Now, let me set the scene for you, shall we? Imagine me, freshly scrubbed and in a pink tulle dress (yes, pink is always the perfect colour to wear when heading to the big smoke!) arriving at the train station, suitcase in hand, ready for an exciting adventure. My faithful travel companion? Why, a darling old gentleman named 'Barnaby' (the name I give to my trusted horse box - a bit of a cheeky one, he is!) Of course, you wouldn't find me without a good old-fashioned carriage ride, would you? Much better than those noisy, stuffy trains (don't get me wrong, a train journey can be rather charming, especially if the view is scenic... and there's definitely a spot of good conversation to be had!).

Anyway, back to my escapade...

The Hammersmith Apollo was buzzing, simply bursting with energy! And everyone was dressed to the nines. As always, I ensured I was sporting my very best ballet-inspired attire - this time, a glorious, custom-made, hot-pink tulle creation, designed to perfectly emulate the twirls and pirouettes I dream of. It even had tiny pink sparkly ribbons on it!

And talking of twirling and pirouettes... that brings me to the show itself! This incredible ensemble called 'Ballet Dreams' featured a stunning combination of traditional and modern ballet pieces, all choreographed with a certain "oomph" you only get in London! My favourite bit was absolutely the one with all the gorgeous men in tutus... talk about a dreamy vision! Oh, how I would love to twirl alongside those delightful creatures. I may need to contact a costume designer about adding a men's line to my collection - think bright yellow tutus for the gentlemen! Imagine the impact that would have at the Derby Horse Show! Oh my... my mind is swirling!

But anyway, back to the show! What I love most about the ballet is the dedication and grace of all the dancers - oh, how I dream to perform like that! The precision and energy were simply mesmerizing! After the performance, the entire audience was on its feet, and rightly so! You see, ballet, darling readers, is an art form that really does bring people together, wouldn't you say?

After the show, I indulged in the quintessential London treat: a delicious high tea at the swankiest tea room in all of Hammersmith! Imagine the aroma, all dainty finger sandwiches and miniature cakes with delicate floral decorations - absolute perfection!

And what did I talk about with my tea and cucumber sandwiches, you ask? Well, it's only fitting to discuss what every true ballerina dreams about, of course! Fashion - what other subject would suffice? (You know, sometimes I really wish I could create my own range of pink tutus for every occasion... I have such amazing ideas!).

I also spoke of how we must all remember that it's okay to be a bit different, a bit unconventional. That’s what life is all about! So why not throw caution to the wind and rock a tutu to the supermarket? Embrace your inner dancer! I am constantly encouraging others to try out a ballet class or a barre workout - just imagine the incredible confidence boost!

So, I return to my lovely little village in Derbyshire with a heart filled with the vibrant energy of London, and an unshakeable desire to encourage more and more people to explore the beauty and freedom of dance. Life is a dance, my darlings, and we must dance like no one is watching!

Until next time, darling readers!

Love,

Emma xxx
