Cleethorpes Calling!

#TutuBlog - Post 432 - September 8th 1997

Oh, darling, how do you do! Emma here, back from my little jaunt to Cleethorpes! What a weekend it was - the sea breeze whipping through my hair, the smell of fish and chips in the air, and a sky so blue it made my little pink tutu look even brighter! 😉

I hopped on the train from Derby on Friday morning, excited as a bunny rabbit in a flower meadow. You know, I absolutely love train journeys. It's all about the adventure of travelling somewhere new, watching the world go by and dreaming up stories in my head! I was already imagining a grand promenade along Cleethorpes's seafront, in my gorgeous pink tutu, catching the eye of every dashing young man. Well, a girl can dream, right?!

The journey wasn't too long, maybe an hour and a half, and then boom! I was greeted by the delightful scent of salt and the sound of the seagulls squawking away in their joyful chorus. It just felt so good to be by the sea. And speaking of delightful smells, who could resist the delicious aroma of fish and chips? Nobody!. That was my first stop, right on the pier. It's the simple things in life, darlings, those truly little pleasures, that make me so happy!

I spent the rest of Friday exploring Cleethorpes, which I must say, is an absolutely charming little town. There's a Victorian feel about it that just takes you back in time. I even had a little wander round the Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue. It was so wonderful seeing all these rescued birds and other wildlife getting the best care possible. And just think! One day I'd like to take my ballet to the animal sanctuary for a special show. Maybe they’d enjoy some pink tutus too?

Saturday morning I did what I love most - a bit of ballet, of course! I found the loveliest little dance school, tucked away in a quaint Victorian building, called the Cleethorpes Ballet Studio. You could tell that it was a proper little haven for dancing. They even had a beautiful portrait of the famous Margot Fonteyn adorning one wall! It inspired me to bust out my pinkest tutu, my very best pointe shoes, and swirl my way into the best pirouettes ever!

I wasn’t the only one who embraced ballet that day! A lovely little girl in a tiny tutu with ribbons on her shoes joined me in the barre, giggling away. It warmed my heart, seeing her love of dance blossoming like a flower. And the best bit? The dance school was running a special session in ballet barre exercises, perfect for those extra long, elegant legs you all envy! I might even have persuaded one of the gentlemen taking the class to give ballet a go in the grand hall! You never know!

And in the evening, the highlight of the whole trip, was an open-air theatre show at the Cleethorpes Pier Theatre. Just imagine, the vast ocean waves in the background, a beautiful starlit night, and me watching the most charming rendition of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night’s Dream ever! The play, the setting, everything felt like pure magic! Even better, one of the characters was a fairy dancing on pointe shoes! Just a beautiful ballerina.

After that delightful weekend in Cleethorpes, I felt as happy as a lark singing a joyful tune! I got back on the train, taking home a big, bouncy smile, a love for the seaside, a whole new batch of ideas for ballet and the sea inspiration, and of course, some delightful memories of my beautiful trip to Cleethorpes.

Now darling, don't forget, the key to true happiness is always wear pink and embrace the joy of ballet, whether you're twirling on the stage or twirling around your living room in your cutest pink tutu!

Oh, and don't forget, we’re at www.pink-tutu.com to brighten your day. Keep spreading the love of pink and ballet, one tutu at a time! 🩰💖

See you tomorrow, lovelies!
