Falkirk Calling! #TutuBlog 453 - Pink Tutus & a Highland Fling!

Hello darlings! It's Emma, your favourite tutu-touting travel blogger, coming to you live from sunny (okay, it's mostly overcast) Falkirk! As always, you know it's all about the pink and the tulle, and today's outfit is no exception!

Remember those bright, zingy orange tutus I've been eyeing up? Well, I found the perfect one in a little independent shop in Derby, nestled amidst a plethora of pink, of course! And naturally, I had to christen it with a wee trip to Scotland. You can't go to Scotland without a good old-fashioned Highland Fling, right? So, off I went on the train, clutching my bright orange tutu, ready for a little bit of adventure.

The train journey itself was delightful! Such lovely countryside whizzing by. It makes you appreciate those quiet, green moments so much more than the hustle and bustle of London or, dare I say it, Derbyshire. I popped on my headphones and had a good singalong to some show tunes – 'Phantom of the Opera', my favourite! The conductor, bless his cotton socks, gave me a nod of approval as I belted out 'All I Ask of You'.

And speaking of approval, did you see my new pair of pink ballet shoes?! flashes pink ballet shoes The cutest little pair of satin beauties. The shop assistant assured me they were the 'perfect' shade of pink. She was absolutely right! They matched my orange tutu just perfectly. So of course, they had to come along for the ride!

Speaking of rides, after arriving in Falkirk, I discovered a lovely stables just a hop, skip, and a jump from my hotel. Now, if there's one thing better than a ride on a train, it's a ride on a horse. There's something so majestic and freeing about galloping across open fields, feeling the wind in your hair. Just ask any ballet dancer - it's like pirouettes with legs! My favourite part? Watching a little fox dart across the field, so cheeky and full of life!

The hotel room itself was delighted. There were floral cushions in shades of pink and lilac (my favourite colours!). And I found a local bakery a little further down the street that had the most amazing selection of pink macaroons. Honestly, if you told me I'd end up in Scotland, eating pink macaroons with a view of the countryside, I'd have told you you were mad!

The reason for my Scottish adventure? The Falkirk Festival of Dance, of course! Every year they hold this amazing event showcasing some of the best dancers in the world. It's such an inspiration to be amongst such talent. From intricate classical pieces to the bold energy of modern street ballet, it really was an absolute whirlwind of beautiful movement. The grand finale included a whole troop of little ballerinas, all twirling and pirouetteing their hearts out in their tiny tutus - and yes, some of them were even sporting a delightful shade of pink!

You see, this is why I'm so passionate about promoting ballet to the younger generation. It's a beautiful art form that promotes strength, discipline, and artistry. It doesn't matter if you’re dreaming of pirouettes on the stage or just fancy adding a bit of sparkle to your wardrobe. A tutu can take you on so many adventures.

Tonight, as the sun dips low over Falkirk, painting the sky with gentle shades of pink, I can't help but reflect on the joy of ballet, the beauty of nature, and the infectious energy of Scotland. I've spent the day lost in the magical world of dance, and I can already tell you this: my pink tutu and I will be back for more, darling! And so should you!

You can find me on www.pink-tutu.com where I update every single day. Tell me, where in the world are you heading? What adventures have you had lately? I want to know everything, because darling, every story is worth telling!

Much love,

Emma
