Kendal Calling: A Purple Tutu in the Lake District

Hello darlings! Emma here, your resident tutu-wearing, ballet-loving blogger, bringing you all the pinkest, most twirly adventures from my life. Today, I'm writing to you from the beautiful Lake District, having just arrived in the charming town of Kendal.

It’s been a long journey from Derbyshire. I started early this morning, feeling as light as a feather. You know I love a good train journey, so I settled into my carriage and watched the world fly by, clutching my little bag containing my trusty, lavender-scented ballet shoes. You can't have a proper ballet adventure without them, darling!

And speaking of adventures, I had to do something a bit different today. Instead of arriving in style by train, I was lucky enough to get a ride from my friend Henry, on his handsome mare, Daisy. The sun was shining, the air was fresh, and I felt like a true fairytale princess on a magical quest! You wouldn't believe how excited Daisy got when we reached the outskirts of Kendal. She couldn't stop whinnying with excitement, I swear she was practically prancing with glee!

Once in Kendal, I felt that familiar thrill of discovery. I love exploring new places, especially ones with such character and charm as Kendal. I couldn't wait to find the perfect little tea shop. I have a feeling it's going to be my happy place. The shops here are like nothing I’ve seen before! There's a little independent bookstore crammed with poetry, a handmade jewelry store overflowing with sparkling delights, and even a vintage clothing shop, just begging me to add another gorgeous tutu to my collection. You know me, I'm a sucker for a good secondhand tutu! But it was at a delightful cafe, nestled amidst cobbled streets and ancient buildings, that my love for Kendal really blossomed.

But here's the real reason I'm in Kendal, my dear readers - I'm here for the Kendal Calling festival! Yes, I know, I might seem a little unconventional, bringing a tutu to a music festival. But you know me, darling! I always add my own splash of pink. In fact, this time I've taken my love of pink to a whole new level! I'm sporting my new, luxurious purple tutu. I have to admit, the colour is utterly captivating. And I can already imagine how perfect it will be as I dance my heart out at the festival. The sheer volume of fabulous music, laughter, and vibrant life here is simply intoxicating.

I spent the afternoon enjoying a stroll through the festival, soaking up the lively atmosphere. You know I love a good people-watching session, and the characters I've seen today are nothing short of spectacular! I spied a couple in full medieval garb, a group of enthusiastic jugglers, and a charming old gentleman wearing a flamboyant hat covered in multi-colored feathers. I simply adore the creative spirit of festivals! I mean, how could anyone not love the joy and exuberance?

My first festival adventure led me to a captivating spoken word performance. I'm a sucker for anything a little poetic, so I was mesmerized by the heartfelt poetry that poured out of the stage, weaving together emotions and thoughts, hopes and dreams. I found myself mesmerized by the poet's use of language, and I couldn't help but sway with the rhythm of his words. Oh, my dears, if you haven't experienced spoken word, then I urge you to put it on your to-do list.

As evening approached, the sun cast a warm glow on the crowd gathered around the stage. The air buzzed with anticipation for the first big performance. My little heart was already fluttering, excited to experience a full-blown festival performance, under the twinkling stars.

Later this week, I’m planning on exploring the surrounding countryside. You know I love my daily dose of nature. The Lake District is known for its stunning scenery. So, picture this: emerald green hillsides, glassy, blue waters, and an ethereal mist clinging to the peaks like a delicate lace shawl. This scenery calls out to me, it practically demands to be photographed and shared with you, my dearest readers!

While exploring Kendal’s natural wonders, I hope to find some opportunities to stretch my muscles. You see, I’m nothing without a good ballet session. Maybe a morning ballet class, nestled between those green hillsides, or perhaps a performance at the local theatre? Who knows what opportunities lie in wait for me.

The beautiful Lake District truly inspires me. It reminds me that the most important thing is to be fully present and experience life with your whole heart. The simple beauty, the captivating sounds, the raw emotion of a good performance, and of course, the deliciousness of freshly-baked pastries – all contribute to a beautiful tapestry of experiences. It's easy to feel happy here, surrounded by such warmth, friendliness, and genuine passion.

And remember, my darling readers, as I head back to Derbyshire and my favourite pink tutu, don't forget to keep dreaming big! It’s important to keep searching for those little nuggets of magic and wonder in the world. Be your most beautiful self and spread kindness wherever you go. Because darling, life is truly a beautiful adventure, just waiting to be explored.

Don't forget to keep following my adventures on pink-tutu.com. Until next time, remember, the world is a stage and life is a ballet. Twirl your way through it with grace and beauty, and remember: life's too short for a boring tutu. So go ahead and let your inner sparkle shine!

Yours truly,

Emma xx
