Wrecsam Wonderland: A Tutu Tale (Post #627)

Oh darling, it's Emma here! I'm absolutely bursting with excitement because today I'm off to the beautiful Welsh town of Wrecsam. It’s the land of daffodils, green valleys and – whisper it – even more glorious pink! And how did I choose to travel to this picturesque destination? By train of course! A train journey, especially one that takes me to a new city, is such a joy. It allows me to unwind, to get lost in a good book or watch the ever-changing landscapes drift past. Today, my companions are 'Anna Karenina' by Tolstoy (who can resist a little romance, even in a train carriage?!) and my ever-reliable red tutu – oh, it looks positively striking against the muted grey of the seats.

Wrecsam has been calling to me for ages, and I’ve been itching to see its majestic historical buildings and explore its charming cobblestone streets. I hear whispers of a local ballet academy that I simply have to visit. What better excuse for a little pirouette or two?

You see, darling, it’s my life mission to bring ballet to everyone, to make everyone feel the magic that swirls within those perfectly placed movements. Just one twirl and you're transported, caught in a whirlwind of beauty and expression. So, Wrecsam, be prepared to feel the Tutu Love! I’m thinking a red tutu picnic in the park. Who needs a traditional Welsh picnic with scones and clotted cream when you can have dainty sandwiches and prosecco in the glorious sun with a fabulous pink backdrop?!

You wouldn't believe the chaos my travelling wardrobe creates! My suitcase brims with tutus of every colour imaginable – I love to match them to the places I visit. Today, the red tutu seemed perfect to compliment Wrecsam’s rich history and vibrant atmosphere. Plus, can you really imagine travelling without a fluffy tulle explosion?!

I also pack my "ballet bag," a treasure chest brimming with my ballet essentials. Think glittery pointe shoes, leg warmers and ballet bags that I like to customize with pretty embellishments – there’s always space for a little glitter and sparkle, you see. A good pair of dance shoes is so important. For me, they’re like a second skin, they take me to places and do things my bare feet could never achieve!

Now, this isn't a post solely about my tutu obsession (though you can never have enough, don’t you think?) We all know Wrecsam is also famous for its breathtaking Welsh landscape – something a girl after a little country walk just can’t resist. The thought of rambling through a meadow, perhaps watching a few lambs frolic amongst the buttercups, brings a smile to my face. You never know, a few ballet moves in nature, surrounded by its raw beauty, could create the most beautiful photos.

My afternoon plans include some delicious Welsh afternoon tea, indulging in scones and cream with a lovely pot of Earl Grey. Don’t forget, tea is life, and after a long day of dancing (in my tutu, obviously!) and walking, I have to get that much-needed dose of calm and flavour! I always try to blend in with the local culture. In fact, when travelling, I tend to follow a very specific motto: “Dress local, dance local.” After my afternoon tea, a bit of window-shopping at Wrecsam’s eclectic shops is also a must. Perhaps a little treat from one of its fabulous vintage stores or a unique hand-made necklace? My life philosophy: If in doubt, add pink! You see, a little pink tutu never hurts and really does tie an outfit together, darling!

Wrecsam, oh Wrecsam, I know you will be a dream come true. And perhaps, after your adventures, a few people in this Welsh town might embrace the wonder that is ballet! As I always say, a little ballet in your life, and a splash of pink, can change everything. Who knows, you might just discover a newfound love for the dance!

Love,

Emma xx
