Abingdon Adventures: Tutu Time in the English Countryside 🩰🌸

Hello my darlings!

Emma here, bringing you sunshine from the beautiful English countryside. I'm in Abingdon today, a charming little town in Oxfordshire. My trusty steed, well, my trusty steed disguised as a steam train, brought me here for a day of ballet and adventure. And by adventure, I mean finding the prettiest little antique shops and indulging in the most decadent afternoon tea you could possibly imagine!

This trip has been a whirlwind of colour and grace. I was drawn here for the weekend by the "Dance for a Day" festival – can you imagine, a whole weekend dedicated to all things ballet?! My inner tutu-wearing child squealed with delight.

Pink Perfection: A Tutu for Every Occasion

I'm rocking my new European-style tutu today, a pale pink confection that shimmers in the afternoon sun. It's a real show-stopper! It has this gorgeous floral embellishment at the hem, reminiscent of the blooming roses I saw earlier in the town centre. There's just something about a perfectly fitted tutu, it makes me feel like I'm floating on a cloud, especially when twirling under a cerulean sky. It’s the most magical feeling. I swear I could twirl all day, and I might just!

And that's not all, darling! I brought along a fabulous fuchsia feather boa – the perfect touch of drama and femininity, just a bit of that Parisian chic. I can’t tell you how much fun it is to wear this combination, just floating through life in the most adorable and fabulous outfit. Honestly, it should be compulsory for everyone! I'd love to see a whole flashmob in tutus! Can you imagine? Now wouldn’t that brighten your day?! I know mine.

Beyond the Studio: Ballet & Blooms

Of course, I started the day at a ballet class. It was a brilliant class held in the Abingdon Abbey. The architecture there was magnificent – the abbey was built by St. Edmund the Martyr, and the building had so much history. After the class, I wandered through the Abbey’s gardens. It was a riot of colours, and I swear I saw a buttercup, my favourite flower, amongst the flowers. I felt incredibly at peace amongst the flowerbeds and roses and imagined myself in the film “Bridgerton,” twirling with the elegance of Lady Whistledown, wearing the biggest, most flamboyant tutu ever!

An English Delights: Afternoon Tea & a Touch of Nostalgia

The afternoon is for indulging. I mean, isn't it?! I’m about to settle in at a traditional tea room, and oh my goodness, they have a selection of tea that could satisfy even the most discerning tea aficionado! They do a “Earl Grey with lavender” which I am definitely ordering. I adore lavender and think it compliments my ballet pink outfit perfectly. It’s been a dream of mine since childhood to visit this beautiful county, so to be able to do this while experiencing a delicious high tea… truly fabulous!

Ballet Beauty and Inspiration

As the sun dips below the horizon, I’m off to see a ballet performance at a theatre here in Abingdon. I’m so excited, as it features some fabulous professional dancers. They will surely take my breath away! They’re performing one of my all-time favourite pieces, a ballet inspired by the ancient mythology of nymphs and mythical creatures. I am in my element! Ballet is the purest form of artistry. Every movement tells a story. The beauty of it always takes my breath away.

I can't help but think that I could live my life just twirling through every town and city, spreading the joy of ballet and sunshine wherever I go. I'll try and keep my head in the clouds for a little longer. I've got my pink tutu, my afternoon tea, and an evening filled with graceful dance – what more could a girl ask for?

Well, darlings, it’s getting late here and I want to get back to my pink ballet world, until next time, happy twirling!

Lots of love, Emma
