Aylesbury: A Whirlwind of Tutu & Train Journeys - Post #844

Hello my lovely tutu-twirling darlings! It’s your favourite pink-loving ballet enthusiast, Emma, back again with a blog post hot off the press. I’ve been back in Derbyshire for a few days after a weekend trip to the lovely town of Aylesbury – it's practically a mini London, you know? So much to see and do, especially if you love ballet!

This week, the spotlight is firmly on this gorgeous, fluffy pink European-style tutu I just HAVE to show you! (Think a little more structured, a little more classic, a little less poufy than your average American tutus – but with just as much flair, promise!). It’s a perfect marriage of comfort and sophistication – exactly how I like it!

As usual, I kicked off my trip with a train journey - nothing beats watching the countryside flash past while sipping on a cuppa and dreaming about my destination. Arriving in Aylesbury, I could already feel the ballet vibe – and the town really didn't disappoint.

First up: a visit to the beautiful Aylesbury Waterside Theatre, which, of course, is famous for its spectacular ballet and dance performances. Even though it wasn’t a performance night, I just had to step inside – I just couldn't resist feeling the magic of the theatre! It’s such an elegant venue – all velvet seats and chandeliers, the perfect setting for a night of ballet! Speaking of magic, have you ever considered going to a ballet performance, my lovelies? It’s the most graceful, awe-inspiring form of entertainment I know.

Speaking of ballet… that afternoon, I had the most delicious experience at a gorgeous local café: ballet class! This little studio in the heart of the town really surprised me - so professional, yet so welcoming and relaxed. My class was all about getting comfortable in your own body - we explored a mixture of contemporary ballet styles, focusing on finding grace and fluidity in our movements. Honestly, I left feeling like I was walking on air! I’ve already added this studio to my list of ‘must-visit places for any aspiring ballet dancer’ – their instructors were fab and everyone in the class was just lovely!

For a little culture and fresh air, I headed to the Roald Dahl Museum. You can't get more magical than that, right? I must admit, the quirky displays and installations made me feel like I was stepping into one of my favourite childhood books – the creativity and artistry were truly inspiring. It really did get my imagination whirling!

I swear, my brain is permanently in a ‘pink tutu state of mind’, so obviously, I had to find the most adorable little vintage boutique tucked away in a backstreet. It was a treasure trove of delightful clothing, and, you guessed it, I discovered the most perfect vintage pink hat to complement my new tutu. Imagine a wide-brimmed, slightly slouched straw hat in a pale, pastel pink – pure femininity! I felt like a real-life, modern-day flapper, ready for a waltz through a Parisian street!

And the cherry on top of my weekend? A breathtaking walk in the sprawling countryside surrounding Aylesbury! A gentle, sun-kissed path winding through fields and woods – the perfect opportunity to let my mind wander and appreciate the simple beauty of nature. It really put me in the mood to try out some ‘ballet in nature’ – which, for any ballet-lover who wants to dance outside of a studio, I absolutely recommend! Think of it as 'ballet in the wild', my dears – it’s so freeing!

Back in Derbyshire now, I’m still basking in the warm glow of Aylesbury’s charm – the quaint shops, the vibrant street life, the beautiful countryside, and of course, all the ballet magic I soaked up! Aylesbury has definitely earned a special place in my travel diary – and in my heart, for that matter. It’s a reminder that adventures can be found just around the corner, even in the most unexpected of places.

So, until my next blog post, darling, I leave you with this: always keep twirling, always stay curious, and most importantly, never forget that wearing a pink tutu makes everything better!

Love,

Emma xx

P.S. Remember, if you’re feeling adventurous and want to embrace your inner dancer, I urge you to visit the wonderful town of Aylesbury – and while you’re there, don’t forget to wear a pink tutu!
