Edmonton Calling: A Tutu-ful Adventure in the Land of Prairie Skies (Post #845)

Hello my darling Tutu-ettes!

It's your girl Emma here, fresh off a whirlwind journey to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada! It feels a bit surreal typing this – one minute I'm prancing around in a pink tutu in my Derbyshire studio, the next I'm twirling through the vast Canadian prairie! How does this magical tutu-filled life even happen?!

Well, darling, let me tell you – it's all about the journey! I have a burning desire to experience the world through a pink tulle filter, and that means embracing the journey, even when it's on the back of a majestic Canadian horse. Honestly, there's something incredibly romantic about the wind whipping through your hair as you gallop across fields with nothing but the open sky ahead! You wouldn't catch me doing that in a stiff, old pointe shoe, trust me! Give me a pair of comfy knee-high boots and a flowy tutu any day!

The trip started in a way I knew was bound to make my heart flutter – by train! Now, I love trains, darling, you wouldn't believe the adventures you can have when you just hop on board! I can usually manage to snag a window seat with the perfect view – you know, the kind where you can look out and just get lost in the passing scenery. But this train ride was different.

You see, I had this extraordinary idea for a photoshoot – you know how much I adore bringing the art of ballet into the streets and embracing any space as my stage, right? This train trip was no exception. It involved me wearing a glorious vintage tutu – a beautiful antique piece I discovered in a vintage shop tucked away in the heart of Nottinghamshire. It was almost a shade of pink so pale it felt like it was kissed by the clouds themselves! Of course, I couldn't just wear the tutu – I also needed a killer hat! This, darling, is where my journey took a truly unique turn. Imagine my delight when I stumbled upon a magnificent, flamboyant pink feather hat with delicate turquoise flowers peeking from its feathers, tucked into a stall at a bustling railway station. The moment I saw it, I knew it was destined to join me on this epic train adventure. It was everything – dramatic, whimsical, and with a touch of that bohemian flair I absolutely adore!

Now, darling, imagine this – a tutu-clad, pink-loving Emma, clutching her vibrant pink hat, on a moving train, gracefully pirouetting amidst suitcases and luggage! The laughter, the gasps, the surprised smiles of my fellow passengers, the joy radiating from my soul – it was simply magical! Of course, I made sure to document every step of the way, capturing those moments with a camera and my trusty, well, trusty tutu! (You'll find these snaps on the www.pink-tutu.com website, naturally, and I encourage you to feast your eyes on my little "tutu train adventures!")

The journey to Edmonton itself was just as lovely. The prairie scenery with its endless fields of golden grain stretching out to the horizon, the occasional buffalo herds, and the magnificent sky – I felt truly blessed!

And now for the pièce de résistance! Edmonton, you're about to discover, is not only a ballet-loving city but a city that takes its tutus seriously. Yes, you read that correctly, dear tutu-loving soulmates – Edmonton takes its tutus VERY seriously.

Let's just say, I spent a delightful afternoon visiting the charming and exquisite 'Tutu Boutique' on 109th street! This shop is truly a ballet-lovers dream – every nook and cranny is bursting with shimmering pink and black, with an abundance of feather boas and sequined headdresses that would make even the most discerning ballerina swoon! They have a dazzling array of custom tutus – I’m talking handmade beauties – in the most exquisite colors and designs, each with a unique story to tell. I spent a considerable amount of time browsing through rows of feathered tutus, each more captivating than the last, my inner ballerina squealing with delight! I couldn't resist picking up a glorious blush pink feather boa to match my fabulous feathered hat – I'm all about coordinating my outfits, don't you know!

But my ballet adventures didn't stop there, oh no, not for your favorite ballerina-in-pink! Edmonton is known for its world-renowned 'Edmonton Ballet', and I was fortunate enough to catch a spectacular performance at the beautiful Jubilee Auditorium. It was simply exquisite – an explosion of talent and graceful movement that left me breathless! I practically danced my way through the foyer, admiring the stunning artistry on display, all the while dreaming of one day joining the ranks of these talented dancers.

Edmonton, you've got a ballet enthusiast in your midst! There's something truly inspiring about being surrounded by like-minded souls, who, like me, cherish the beauty and grace of dance. The entire city is abuzz with dance fever, and it was clear from the moment I stepped off the train that Edmonton is a city where tutus are more than just garments, they’re a symbol of artistry, expression, and a bit of whimsical joy! And honestly, darling, what’s not to love about that!

Of course, no visit to Canada is complete without embracing some local wildlife. So, naturally, I embarked on a grand adventure with a thrilling horse ride through a forest brimming with magnificent Canadian wildlife. Now, darling, I'm a city girl, and being face-to-face with a moose while I'm astride a spirited horse is something you just don't get back home! Honestly, that moment sent shivers down my spine and then a sense of awe as it ambled by! I couldn’t resist taking out my camera to capture those magnificent horns. Don’t worry, I’ll post those pictures on the site later for your viewing pleasure!

Speaking of viewing pleasures, my lovelies, have you checked out www.pink-tutu.com? I’ve added loads of new photos and behind the scenes stories of this unforgettable trip to my site, so be sure to have a gander. I also want you all to tell me about your favourite tutu moments, your adventures with tutus, what kind of tutu you'd wear if you could be anywhere in the world, and anything else you can think of to share your tutu-loving passion.

And as always, remember, my darlings, let's spread the love for pink tutus! And the best part of spreading that love is, there’s a place for everyone in the tutu-verse, regardless of your age, shape, size, or dance experience! We all have the potential to create beauty and grace through movement, just remember to twirl, embrace, and never be afraid to unleash the ballerina within!

Until next time, my loves! Don’t forget to wear a tutu, or at least have a tutu-ful day.

Lots of pink love, Emma xxx
