Dudley, Darling! #TutuBlog 850

Oh, my darlings! How are you all? I hope you're having a fabulous week, full of pirouettes and pinks! 🩰💖 I'm writing to you from the bustling, historic town of Dudley, having just enjoyed a simply divine trip! As you all know, I absolutely adore exploring new places, and combining my passion for travel with my love for the elegant world of ballet is truly a dream come true.

This time, I chose a vintage-inspired black tutu. You know me, I always love a bit of drama, and a black tutu adds an unexpected touch of sass to any outfit! I paired it with my favourite pair of fuchsia leather boots, which, frankly, just screamed “Ballet Queen!” It’s a little different from the usual pink and purple you know me for, but that’s the beauty of it! Sometimes you have to go bold!

Speaking of bold, I travelled to Dudley in style! Oh yes, darlings, this little ballerina got to ride a horse! You see, my dear friend, Polly, lives a rather charming country life in the neighbouring village. We arranged a rendezvous at her stable, and let me tell you, it was absolutely magical. Riding through the picturesque countryside on a glorious chestnut steed, my hair flowing in the wind - it was something out of a fairytale! It reminded me of my absolute favourite ballet, ‘Swan Lake’, which we just saw last weekend in Nottingham! I just adore how they combine such delicate beauty with a thrilling storyline. And the tutus, my darlings! They were so stunning. But that's for another blog post, isn't it?

Reaching Dudley was such a treat! It has such a vibrant history, with its iconic castle dominating the skyline. I couldn't help but imagine the medieval times and envision those graceful lords and ladies waltzing through its corridors, wouldn't it have been simply divine? I know I must look absolutely silly wandering around imagining these historical scenarios, but hey, I always embrace the whimsy of life!

First stop on my exploration of Dudley was the wonderful Black Country Living Museum. It is a brilliant way to really experience life in Dudley as it was centuries ago. Imagine working in a bustling colliery, being a blacksmith, and yes, even going to a dance hall – a much racier affair in the past than nowadays! I even learnt a bit about Dudley's Victorian era. My darling, there was one gorgeous building I absolutely adored - they said it was originally a church but later converted into a library. That kind of historic architecture is simply magical.

The best bit of my day, however, was the chance to get right up close and personal with the local wildlife! The Dudley Zoo was a fascinating treat, so many adorable animals, just wandering around! Of course, the majestic African grey parrots captivated my imagination! Oh, how they flapped their feathered wings and squawked! I swear they were even trying to mime some ballet moves, they really were such characters.

As I walked through the beautiful grounds of the zoo, the autumn colours seemed to echo the pink hues in my tutu! They were such a treat to the eye! A feast for my fashion soul, you see! Nature truly does inspire us, my darlings, especially when you get a bit lost in those beautiful pink and autumnal colours. They just beg you to take your own twirls, don't you think?

Of course, no visit to Dudley would be complete without sampling some local delicacies. Now, my darlings, let me tell you, the Black Country is not exactly known for its dainty pastries and exquisite sweets! No, this is where you enjoy a hearty, substantial pie - perhaps a chunky meat pie or a satisfying cheese and onion one, all washed down with a good cuppa! But fear not, dear reader, a few days later, back at home in Derbyshire, I did enjoy my usual selection of delightful afternoon tea and scrumptious scones with my dear mother! There is a time and a place for all sorts of lovely food!

Speaking of lovely, Dudley did have one adorable cafe – the 'Tutu Tea Room'! A bit of a coincidence, you say? You just know, as soon as I saw the name, I knew I simply had to step inside. It was just so enchanting. All pink, as you would imagine. Pink teacups, pink pastries, even a pink feather boa on the piano! The owners are a lovely, charming couple with a truly infectious passion for everything pink, just like me! They even said they thought I looked divine in my black tutu! What more could a girl ask for?

Before heading back to Derbyshire, I wandered along the Dudley canal - just beautiful. The autumn colours were simply gorgeous and I even spied a rather mischievous squirrel prancing along the edge, as I imagined my future post - "A Day Out With Mr Squirrel" - a rather charming blog title, wouldn’t you say?

As I catch the train back to Derbyshire, I feel a pang of sadness. But this will not be my last visit to Dudley, darling. No, not at all! This charming little town has left a beautiful little dance in my heart. And speaking of dancing, how can I forget my darling ballet class? You know, there’s simply nothing better than starting the day with a class and, believe me, a little ballet dance goes a long way! My body is aching now as I am settling in to a delicious cup of herbal tea.

I always love getting messages from you all and reading about your adventures. Let me know how your week has been! Have you worn your pink tutu today, dear reader? Remember, everyone has the right to express themselves in their unique style. What's your go-to colour? I know, darling, you want to join me on my journey and share this amazing, colourful life full of fun and dance! Maybe next week we could try an aerial ballet lesson in Derby. Imagine, flying through the air - so majestic! Well, my darling reader, it is now late and this ballerina must say goodbye for now. I will see you again tomorrow, for another thrilling and stylish adventure.

Sending you all lots of love,

Emma, xx
