Southall Sparkle: Tutu Tales #852

Oh darling, you wouldn't believe the adventures I had yesterday! My love affair with tutus is well-documented (check out my 851 posts, they're a real giggle!) and you all know I adore a good train journey. So naturally, when a chance to catch a show in Southall popped up, I couldn't resist a day out in my favourite purple tutu.

My journey started at the crack of dawn. I woke up with a spring in my step (always a good sign, eh?), my little pink suitcase packed with my trusty tutu, and my travel-sized bottle of rosewater for a little mid-journey refresh. I opted for a trip on the trusty Northern Rail, enjoying the rolling Derbyshire countryside as we chugged southwards.

Did I tell you about my newest habit? I brought along my travel sketchbook to jot down little details from the train. The guy sitting opposite me was reading a book about penguins - imagine, him reading about penguins, a fine specimen like that, rolls eyes. But hey, whatever floats your boat. I caught him smiling at me, though, so I hope it didn’t seem too much of a giggle. Anyway, he was probably captivated by the sheer joy radiating from my magnificent purple tutu!

Upon arriving in Southall, it was straight to the theatre. The scent of fresh popcorn wafted through the air, that inviting smell of a night out, I've always loved the feeling of a buzzing, packed theatre. My heart beat a little faster, butterflies doing their little jig inside my stomach. But hey, I'm not a nervous ballerina anymore, I am the seasoned, world-traveling ballerina, always in a tutu, remember?!

This night’s performance was a real treat! There was this fantastic ballerina, so light and elegant, dancing a contemporary piece. I swear, her feet barely touched the stage - how do they do that?. I tried to mimic her graceful steps and plié, my purple tutu twirling along to the beautiful music. You know how I feel - it’s almost impossible not to get caught up in the joy of it all. The audience was buzzing with energy. I even got a little wink from the conductor in the orchestra pit. Well, it was the right time to take a picture for the gram, so maybe it was a wink for the camera, but that would just be a coincidence, darling, right? ;)

Of course, no trip to a new town is complete without exploring a bit. I had spotted the cutest tea room called 'Tilly's' nestled away on a charming street - my sort of place! After devouring a decadent afternoon tea (and taking about 30 photos of the cakes, obviously - they were a real triumph of frosting and fondant), I had the most unexpected encounter with a friendly fox! Yes, a fox! He came prancing right up to my window, peeking in at me like I was the most intriguing thing he'd ever seen! He almost even made me miss the slightly too pink shade of his coat.

After my tea-break, it was back on the train. Southall to London was a whirlwind. The excitement from the performance was still pulsing, I was giddy. By the time I arrived at London, the sunset was casting a golden light over the city. The world was filled with that same magical sparkle that comes after a beautiful performance. It truly makes me believe that life can be just as dazzling and inspiring as any performance on stage. You know, there’s a whole ballet out there for all of us.

I can't wait to tell you all about my next tutu adventure - follow my adventures daily at www.pink-tutu.com - or else you’ll miss out on all the glitz and glamour! Now, if you’ll excuse me, I'm off to get myself a new pair of pink tights… because every tutu deserves a bit of colour, darling!
