Crosby Calling: Pink Tutus and Ballet Dreams! 🩰

Post 906: 26th December 1998

Hello, darlings! It’s Emma, your favourite pink-tutu-wearing ballerina, back from another dazzling adventure! I'm sitting here in a little cafe overlooking the Mersey, my heart brimming with excitement about my trip to Crosby, which has definitely topped my list of fab places to visit in this crazy world of ours! 💖

Let's be honest, who wouldn't be enchanted by a beach full of monumental iron sculptures by Antony Gormley? Especially when you've got a shimmering, sapphire blue tutu on that just catches the light like a shimmering sea-foam wave! Yes, my dear readers, for this trip I chose to break from my usual pink palette and embrace the moody colours of the Irish Sea. Don't worry though, I still had a touch of pink hidden beneath the tutu's layers, just to keep things interesting.😉

The journey to Crosby was pure delight, of course! It’s the sort of place that screams “classic British charm.” I opted for a journey by train – so much more romantic and nostalgic than driving, wouldn’t you say? The clickety-clack of the rails, the views of the countryside flitting by… it’s the perfect backdrop to daydream about graceful swans, elegant ballerinas, and dreamy pink tutus! 🦢🩰💖

Arriving in Crosby, I was instantly struck by its seaside charm – those sweet little shops, the salt-laced air, the seagulls calling... it felt like stepping into a storybook. And of course, the real star of the show is the Antony Gormley sculpture installation! Standing on the beach, watching the tide rise and fall, feeling the sand between my toes and the cool wind on my face, and witnessing those monumental figures rising from the water… it was a sensory experience unlike anything I've ever felt! It made me think about the ephemeral nature of our lives, how we're all part of this vast ocean of time, ever changing, yet ultimately connected. (See? I told you, deep thinking comes with tutus!)

Tutu Style

Speaking of tutus, you’ve got to see the incredible outfit I sported for this seaside adventure! It's all about layers and textures, baby! Beneath that shimmering blue tutu was a white silk petticoat, adding a touch of cloud-like lightness, and topped with a blush pink cotton cardigan – because even on a windy beach, one must have a bit of warmth and style! I accessorised with my trusty pearl necklace, because a girl always needs a bit of sparkle, even on a beach in England! And of course, no ballet-lover's trip to the seaside is complete without a pair of sleek white ballet shoes - perfect for twirling along the promenade, darling!

The Show Must Go On!

Being so close to the Liverpool area, it would have been a travesty not to check out some of the local theatre scene! My day in Crosby wouldn’t be complete without some proper ballet, right? So, I found myself seated in a charming little theatre in the heart of Liverpool, watching the beautiful dancers weave their magic. They were doing a stunning production of Swan Lake, with graceful swans gliding through the stage, the haunting music, and all those delicate, powerful emotions. It felt like pure magic! My favourite moment? Well, you know me - I can't resist a beautiful pirouette! And these dancers had some absolute corkers! 💫

After the show, I decided to make a visit to a quaint little coffee shop right next to the theatre – all old-fashioned charm and warm lighting, with the scent of freshly baked pastries lingering in the air. As I sipped my cappuccino and savoured a scrumptious chocolate croissant, I jotted down notes in my little pink notebook. It's a great habit I have - whenever I have a beautiful ballet moment, whether in class or at a show, I jot down a few thoughts or key moves that just spark something in my imagination.

* Ballet Dreams and Pink Tutues!*

You know, as I've gotten older, I've really begun to appreciate how beautiful and inspiring ballet truly is. It’s not just about being perfectly graceful or making a stunning arabesque - it’s about the story, the emotion, the art form itself. As my mum used to tell me, "Ballet is about using your whole body, Emma, and making the world dance with you!" And that’s what I strive to do.

And you know what? It’s that very same message that inspired me to start www.pink-tutu.com - to bring that little bit of ballet magic into everyone's lives! Whether it's wearing a pink tutu to a fancy dress party, putting on your favourite dance playlist and dancing in your living room, or even taking a beginner’s class - it’s about letting loose and finding your inner dancer. I believe that ballet is for everyone, and I just know it will inspire you to be your best self. 💖
