Bradford Bound: Tutu Time in the North!

Hello my beautiful ballet bunnies! It’s your girl Emma here, bringing you sunshine and tutus from the wilds of… Bradford! Yes, you heard that right. This Derbyshire girl has traded rolling hills and sheep for industrial charm and… erm, curry houses? (More on that later). 😉

Now, I know what you’re thinking, "Bradford?! Isn’t that a bit… grim?" Well, my loves, I'm here to tell you, grim is relative! Especially when you’re rocking a fabulous orange tutu. Let's be real, you could wear a potato sack and I’d find a way to make it chic, but an orange tutu is just, chef’s kiss, glorious. It’s the perfect statement for a day of exploration, and trust me, Bradford has got surprises waiting around every corner.

First things first, I had to travel by train, obviously. It’s so much more romantic than a cramped car! My best friend Poppy is with me, and we both feel so fancy sipping on our teas while whizzing through the countryside. The countryside is really starting to turn green again, so lush and pretty! The smell of new blooms filled the carriage, just delightful. And Poppy… bless her heart… was absolutely fascinated by a squirrel that had come onboard for a quick jaunt! Honestly, it’s like travelling with a six-year-old sometimes, which, when you think about it, is rather delightful!

Speaking of delightful, I must tell you about the absolute triumph that was our journey to Bradford itself. You know how much I love horses, right? Well, we were lucky enough to catch a horse-drawn carriage through the charming streets! I could have spent the whole day simply gazing out at the beautiful buildings as we clattered along. There was even a lovely old man feeding pigeons by the river; he had the biggest smile, so sweet! He made a real effort to engage with Poppy’s excitable squirrel commentary, too. A real Yorkshire gentleman!

So, now we’re in the heart of Bradford, ready to paint the town (pink!) tutu! Our mission? Find the best curries the North has to offer, visit the amazing Bradford City Park, maybe even catch a live show in the Alhambra Theatre (oh, to dance on those stage boards!). Oh, and naturally, I have to snap some perfect Instagram pictures. My followers deserve a dose of that pink tutu magic!

Stay tuned, my darlings. I'm going to take you all on a whirlwind adventure through this surprisingly chic little city, one tutu twirl at a time! And if all goes to plan, I might even convince a few locals to ditch their coats and embrace the pink tutu lifestyle. It’s time for the world to feel the love of ballet!

With all my love (and pink tutus!),

Emma xx

Later that evening...

Well, darling, let’s just say the pink tutu magic worked wonders in Bradford. Poppy and I ate a veritable feast of delicious curry, even managed to make it out of the city centre alive. The food, let me tell you, it's a real game changer! Seriously, so flavourful and the portion sizes were...well, let's just say that you can't possibly go hungry. I even braved a little spice – I always have been a little adventurous in that way, just ask my spice-phobic boyfriend.

Bradford City Park was as charming as they promised! Lots of kids out playing, happy couples strolling hand-in-hand. And yes, I did my best to get a photo of my orange tutu reflecting in the lovely mirrored pools, perfect for a touch of "pink-tutu-glam" with a bit of Northern edge.

Oh, the Bradford City Park toilets, a marvel to behold. I was completely in awe. Not only were they immaculately clean, but they even had hand dryers, and you know how much I hate the paper hand towels that leave your hands sticky?! My inner perfectionist was satisfied.

Now, my Bradford babes, it wouldn't be a true "Pink-Tutu" adventure without a bit of theatrical exploration. And where better to do that than at the legendary Alhambra Theatre! This stunning place practically radiated history, you could almost feel the ghosts of dancers past. I actually have to hold back a happy little scream everytime I see those famous theatres - pure joy.

Tonight was a "Thriller" - the theatre was alive with a captivating, and utterly terrifying (in the best way!), production of Michael Jackson’s hit musical. We’re both huge fans, so Poppy and I practically lost ourselves in the music and dancing, even attempting a little moonwalk in our seats.

And wouldn’t you know it, my fabulous pink tutu was spotted by a couple on their way out! They seemed to absolutely love it – and we spent a good 5 minutes discussing our passion for ballet! (Naturally, they were intrigued when I told them that my goal in life was to make pink tutus as popular as, well, pretty much everything). Who knew you could find kindred spirits just by walking down the street in a big, orange, feathered tutu?

And that’s a wrap on Bradford! Oh, my loves, I’m going to be dreaming of those curry smells and Alhambra Theatre glamour for days!

My darlings, don’t forget - wear that pink tutu with pride, take that ballet class, go on those adventures, and embrace all that life has to offer. It's truly the most wonderful experience, I promise.

Until next time,

Emma xx
