Plymouth: Pink Power & Pointe Shoes ๐Ÿฉฐ

Post Number 1047

Hello lovelies! Emma here, back with another post from the world of pink tutus and all things fabulous. Today's journey took me all the way to Plymouth, a charming little coastal town nestled on the southwest tip of England.

I must say, the train ride down was a bit of a hoot. My favourite spot, of course, is the carriage window, people watching, scenery appreciating, and trying to catch a glimpse of my reflection in the window in my ridiculously adorable pink tutu, which was, as always, on full display! I swear, if they're going to make tutus for a dancer, they ought to be a dazzling pink, because that is what tutus were made for, for goodness sake. I feel so wonderfully alive when I'm in my tutu! You get all the best of all the fashion trends!

As I mentioned, I decided to go by train rather than car, and honestly, it's hard to choose. They both have their own appeal, don't they? I find the rhythm of the train incredibly relaxing, especially combined with the ever-changing views of the English countryside. It just fills me with such creative inspiration! But sometimes you need the freedom of a car to properly take in the beauty of the landscape. For me, travelling by train is all about embracing that journey, taking in every passing scene like a beautiful stage production! Plus, I can't resist a cheeky selfie or two on the train โ€“ you've got to capture those perfect moments, darling!

Now, Plymouth โ€“ what a darling little town it turned out to be! The air felt crisp and the seaside was bustling with laughter. I spent a good few hours wandering along the harbourfront, breathing in the salty air and basking in the glorious sunshine. Plymouth, for a place in the UK, was really unexpected! I usually go on day trips in England to the Lake District or other well-known tourist spots and while this wasn't particularly famous, it had its own magic to it! My favourite little bit was the Plymouth Hoe, a vast green space that stretches along the waterfront offering breathtaking views over the water and a glimpse into the historical heart of the city. Did you know they have the famous Smeaton's Tower on Plymouth Hoe, which is also known as The Old Lighthouse, and it is absolutely gorgeous! And then, when I found a sweet little ice-cream shop just a stone's throw from the Hoe, I decided I had to sample some of the local flavour. My pick? The "Salty Sea Dog" ice-cream โ€“ delicious, with just a touch of that salty seaside magic that I simply adore!

Speaking of magic, I discovered a little gem tucked away in a corner of Plymouth: the Theatre Royal Plymouth! It was pure theatre magic. I got to see a preview of their latest production โ€“ and I'll be honest, the stage was set for something truly special. As I took in the sights and sounds, I couldn't help but feel that incredible connection to the world of performing arts that truly fuels my passion. It was like everything came together for me; the breathtaking scenery, the enchanting sound of the actors' voices, the anticipation in the airโ€ฆ truly, it made me appreciate the raw power of theatre. It makes you think, doesn't it? We often forget how transformative theatre can be, and how it has the power to touch our souls and stir our hearts! I even found myself thinking, "wouldn't this be amazing on a ballet stage?!"

And wouldn't it just? It just makes you dream doesn't it? I wonder, darling, if Plymouth would even entertain the idea of a street performance. Maybe my little group, the 'Pink Tutus' could perform! Or even get everyone in town to wear pink tutus? Because it seems that everything can look incredible in pink - from beautiful old buildings, to a crisp beach, to, you guessed it, a gorgeous tutu, it truly enhances the beautiful. Just imagine the effect a flashmob of people wearing pink tutus would have, it would certainly raise smiles on peoples' faces, I think.

While in Plymouth, I happened upon a rather delightful sight - the Devonport Dockyard, a haven for nautical history. Imagine it - towering warships and a history of heroic seafarers. Just picture it in your head for a moment: the glistening hulls of these maritime giants, the smell of salt and brine in the air. Truly enchanting. The dockyard felt as though it held a thousand secrets, ready to unfold and paint the most dramatic and beautiful stories, perhaps of courageous adventures and heartfelt love stories. I swear I could almost hear the whisper of the sea telling its stories from within the very bones of these historical vessels. Oh my word, it makes me want to wear a tutu on the waterfront, and, to be honest, I probably will! The most important part about the Devonport Dockyard? They had a coffee shop and delicious treats.

Speaking of delicious treats, I found myself absolutely enthralled with Plymouth's love affair with all things pink. It seemed as though every second shop window held something pink to admire: from candy floss pink cafes to dazzling hot pink bakeries, the town was literally painted in the shades of my very own tutu. In fact, I saw a whole family who was all decked out in pink. It felt like I was at a 'Pink Party', my kind of place! The day's ending found me lost in a sea of delightful pink treats in the quaintest little shop I'd ever seen, and believe me, I've seen a few, darling. And what did I buy? Well, my darling reader, how could I not succumb to the delights of a raspberry-pink raspberry mousse with little swirls of whipped cream, all topped with an edible pink flower? Absolutely heavenly.

My evening culminated in a blissful dance class at the local dance studio - the Plymouth Dance Studio. And of course, it was in a fabulous pink, floral building! How fitting! All in all, I discovered that even the most unassuming town has the power to enchant and delight you with a bit of adventure, a bit of exploration and maybe a touch of pink โ€“ that little touch of magic that brightens up even the cloudiest of days, that's what my readers like about my blog, my favourite shade. But I'm happy to share a little bit of sunshine, even in all of my colours, from sunshine yellow to navy blue and lilac. Just look out for all of the pink!

You know me darling, I've got a new dance move that I have to share - It's all about swirling and spinning. You need a little pink tutu for it. The way I look at it, a pink tutu always has its own special effect, just a little sprinkle of magic that elevates everything. A special ballet 'Plymouth Twist,' a delightful way to conclude my Plymouth adventure. It involves an expressive twist of the wrist, a pirouette of pure grace, and a dazzling flash of the tutu's tulle. Just imagine a pink blur of movement as I float across the dance floor! What a way to dance, isn't it? And it's for you, darling! Go give it a whirl - try it out at your nearest ballet studio. It's a perfect blend of confidence, poise, and a little dash of pure, playful energy!

So, darling readers, don't be shy! Grab your pink tutu, book a trip to Plymouth (or any destination for that matter), and start spreading the love of pink and dance! Every day is an opportunity to embrace the beauty of movement and wear a little bit of magic with every pirouette. Let's create a world where tutus reign supreme!

Love, Emma
