Hastings, Here I Come! (Post #1094)

Hello, my darlings! It’s Emma here, your favourite pink-tutu-clad ballerina, bringing you all the latest from my adventures in the world of dance, fashion, and… well, just pure fabulousness! Today’s journey takes us to the seaside town of Hastings, nestled in the beautiful county of Sussex. This time, I've decided to make my trip extra-special by swapping my trusty train for a four-legged friend! Yep, I'm travelling in style with my favourite Clydesdale, Clementine, who's been patiently awaiting this excursion with me all week.

We're off to catch the iconic Hastings International Jazz Festival. You know how much I adore live music, and the combination of soulful jazz and a bustling seaside town? Simply divine! But even on a jazz-filled weekend, there's always room for a bit of ballet in my life, and Hastings, believe it or not, is a hotbed for the arts.

Now, this isn't just any old town. It's full of vibrant history, charming cobbled streets, and - my personal favourite - beautiful beaches. So, of course, I'm rocking my favourite white tutu today. It's so wonderfully breezy and twirls like a dream in the sea breeze. Clementine seems to enjoy it too! She kept looking back with a playful eye, her tail swishing happily as we trotted along the seafront.

Did I mention I'm sporting a glorious pink scarf to match Clementine's bridle? We’re a fashion power duo! Clementine and I attract plenty of smiles as we saunter through town, stopping for the odd selfie and a good giggle with passersby. I simply adore the friendly atmosphere here – it's just the kind of charming, laid-back environment that makes you want to twirl with glee.

The first stop on our grand tour of Hastings is the iconic Old Town. Cobbled streets, ancient architecture, and that quintessential seaside scent – it’s simply enchanting. I'm planning on spending a delightful afternoon browsing through the shops, sampling the freshest local seafood, and, of course, indulging in a giant ice cream! It wouldn’t be a proper trip to the seaside without it.

Now, Clementine deserves some pampering too. A good groom in the stables and some tasty oats will be just the thing after her adventure. But my love of dance has already taken me to the beautiful Hastings White Rock Theatre. You wouldn’t believe the amazing variety of performances they host, from theatre to ballet and everything in between!

Speaking of ballet, there’s this little secret I have to share: I'm going to join a special workshop at the theatre! The highlight is a masterclass in classical ballet with an esteemed ballerina. Imagine – a whole hour of dedicated practice under expert guidance! I can’t wait! The instructor is a real legend, renowned for her captivating artistry and technical precision. It’s the perfect way to nourish my ballerina soul while exploring Hastings.

Don't worry, darlings, I’ll be documenting my journey for you all on www.pink-tutu.com! I’m thinking of setting up a live ballet challenge for you, to practice your twirls while listening to jazz at the festival! It's bound to be a giggle!

My love of ballet doesn't end on the stage. This morning, I saw a little group of children doing a beautiful routine in the local park. So inspiring! Seeing their joy in dance just reminds me why I'm so passionate about making ballet accessible to everyone, everywhere. Who knows? Perhaps the future Prima Ballerinas of England will be dancing in Hastings one day, thanks to their passion for the beautiful art of ballet!

And what would a trip to Hastings be without some wildlife encounters? The beaches are buzzing with life – majestic seagulls, playful sandpipers, and even a cheeky crab or two! There’s nothing like the fresh air and the calming rhythm of the sea. Just remembering it brings a smile to my face.

So, dear readers, you can catch me at the Jazz Festival tonight – who knows, I might even have a go at a little swing dancing! Then, tomorrow, it’s time to pack up and say farewell to beautiful Hastings, but not before sharing a quick dance lesson with a group of local children! My mission is to spread joy through dance, and this wonderful seaside town just gets me dancing.

Until next time, keep your pink tutus at the ready! Stay beautiful, darling!

Yours truly, Emma
