Scunthorpe Shenanigans: A Pink Tutu Adventure! 🩰

Hello darlings!

Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed blogger, back with another instalment of all things fabulous!

Today, I'm writing from the charming town of Scunthorpe, nestled in the heart of Lincolnshire. It's a bit of a journey from my Derbyshire home, but hey, any excuse to explore this gorgeous country of ours!

My trip was truly magical, a whimsical dance through picturesque landscapes that only a train journey can truly offer. The sunshine was practically radiating off the fields of golden wheat, and the countryside views just stole my breath away. It was a feast for the eyes, like a Monet painting come to life!

The highlight of my journey, however, was definitely the sight of a family of deer frolicking by the tracks. Talk about grace! They moved with such elegance, each leap a ballet in miniature. It reminded me so much of the ballets I adore – the beauty and precision of every step, the sheer power of the body in motion. It was almost like they were auditioning for the Royal Ballet!

Speaking of ballet, my arrival in Scunthorpe was, quite literally, a pirouette into the world of dance! The local ballet school was holding a workshop focusing on ballet technique, and my dear friend, Emily, a fellow tutu enthusiast and a phenomenal ballerina in her own right, persuaded me to join in. Now, Emily has the elegance of a swan and the stamina of a marathon runner, so I'm usually just a twinkle in her dancing star, but she insisted I would love it!

And love it I did! The class was an absolute joy! We worked on leaps, turns, and barre work, and, even though I was a little shaky on the landings sometimes (oops!), the energy in the room was just infectious! I felt so empowered, so liberated – like a ballerina blossoming on stage!

Plus, let me tell you, the ballet studios were like stepping into a dreamscape. Soft pink walls, shimmering mirrored ceilings, and the unmistakable scent of dance – you simply can't replicate that kind of magic anywhere else!

As if the ballet experience wasn't already a whirlwind of happiness, I later indulged in a delicious, very pink, high tea in the quaint town centre. Scones with clotted cream and jam, dainty sandwiches, and a bottomless cup of tea… pure bliss! Of course, I had to wear my favourite pink tutu – what else would I wear for a high tea extravaganza?! The tutu was a statement, a bright splash of colour against the charming cobblestone streets. It definitely got heads turning!

Now, Scunthorpe itself is a fascinating town with a rich history, steeped in stories of coal mines and industry. It's a town with a hard-working soul, but don't let the history fool you, it's got a vibrant spirit that's really starting to shine through. I wandered through the charming streets, soaking up the local atmosphere. It’s quite unlike anywhere else I've been!

Speaking of atmosphere, you know I have to squeeze in a word or two about the amazing wildlife I spotted on my afternoon stroll. I stumbled upon a beautiful lake, with ducks waddling along the edge, geese honking loudly (probably saying hello, or maybe complaining about the lack of bread crumbs!), and even a sneaky heron patiently waiting for a snack! It was like being transported to a nature reserve – serene and magical.

And you know what, my darlings? Even the heron was a fan of pink! Imagine my surprise when I spotted a splash of pink on its beautiful feathers – a delicate blush, almost as if it was channeling my love for all things rosy! Perhaps the heron was secretly longing to twirl in a pink tutu too, or maybe it was simply showing off its natural charm and adding a touch of whimsical flair to the lakeside. Who knows?!

Whatever the reason, it reinforced my conviction: pink is the colour of joy!

Scunthorpe might not be the obvious destination for a pink-tutu-wearing ballet enthusiast like me, but I have to say, it definitely surpassed my expectations! From the bustling railway station to the delightful tea room, from the grace of the deer to the charm of the heron, it was an unforgettable experience that reminded me just how amazing this world can be, and that there's always something new to discover if you just open your mind, and your heart!

Until next time, darlings, don’t forget to spread some joy, and if you can, throw on a pink tutu and do a twirl for me!

Happy dancing!

Love, Emma xx
