Kirkby Calling! 🩰✨ (Post #1184)

Hey gorgeous gals,

It’s Emma here, back from a whirlwind trip to Kirkby, a little gem tucked away in the heart of Derbyshire! Now, let’s get straight to the point - the tutu was on point, obviously! Pink, naturally, with a sporty, chic edge – because even a ballerina needs a little practicality sometimes.

This week’s adventure started with a sunrise train journey - a glorious symphony of shimmering landscapes and early morning tea - just perfect for mentally prepping for the week ahead. Honestly, trains are a joy. I find them so relaxing - just sitting there, gazing out of the window at the world whizzing by, scribbling down my thoughts, or sneaking a peak at a magazine (always a beauty mag for this pink princess).

My first stop in Kirkby was a delightful little dance studio nestled away down a charming cobbled street. I could practically hear the music pumping from a mile away. I adore finding independent dance schools, they often have such amazing energy and passion, and they are perfect places to discover a new style or stretch my creative muscles!

My class was focused on Ballet Street, a truly wonderful style of dance, which I’ve always been so drawn to, mixing ballet technique with that free-flowing street style that feels so vibrant and full of life. There was a whole host of brilliant dancers in the studio – so many different ages, levels and backgrounds. And, I think everyone felt the Pink Tutu magic! They may not have worn a full tutu (but I wish!), but that passion for dancing was a clear sparkle in everyone’s eyes! I think everyone just embraced that joy of movement together, it was wonderful. I might even do a post later about Ballet Street – you know me and those quirky little passions!

As afternoon arrived, I hopped onto a horse-drawn carriage for the next leg of my journey, which feels very much in keeping with Kirkby's charming rural setting. (I can’t wait to post some of those pictures - just the cutest). Imagine: the sun streaming through the leaves, the rhythmic clip-clop of hooves on the road, the faint smell of hay and manure, and the wind whistling in your ears! It was seriously idyllic, like something out of a romantic movie. And what else would you do, in an idyllic countryside scene, than bust out some pirouettes?

I’m absolutely loving the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of Kirkby. After my horse carriage jaunt, I wandered down cobbled streets lined with antique shops and charming little cafés. Of course, I had to try one of their homemade cakes! Every crumb was an absolute symphony of sweetness. (And, of course, perfectly matched with my pink iced latte!)

And my final Kirkby adventure? A show by the ‘Kirkby Tutus,’ a delightful, independent ballet group who perform in a lovely old barn turned into a cozy, rustic theatre! They were absolutely phenomenal! It was like a big happy family – all with an overwhelming passion for dance and their local community, performing beautifully and bringing the magic of ballet to everyone. (I even caught a couple of locals in the front row sporting pink tutus - that is what I call a true testament to Kirkby’s charm).

It’s a small, quiet village with an incredibly rich dance scene, I really fell in love with this place. And for any dance lover looking to get away from the city, this hidden gem might be exactly what you need!

Remember girls: pink tutus make the world a happier place, dancing makes us strong and free, and we can find our own joy in any town, city or countryside, because sometimes the most magic is hidden in the most unexpected corners of our lives.

Stay tuned for more adventures and inspiration over on pink-tutu.com - I’ll be back soon with more dazzling updates from this extraordinary life.

See you soon, lovelies!

Big Pink Tutu Kisses, Emma 💖
