TutuBlog: Post #1185 - Salisbury, A Whirlwind in Pink!
Salisbury, 1st October 1999
Darling readers,
Oh, the sheer joy of a crisp autumn morning, the sun glinting off the dewdrops in my garden and the faintest whiff of cinnamon in the air... Itās a feeling that instantly makes my heart sing and makes me feel incredibly alive!
But enough of this poetic nonsense, letās get to the main event. Today, I'm in Salisbury, nestled amongst the quintessential English countryside. Now, for those of you who havenāt been, it's truly a sight to behold. Quaint cottages with charmingly crooked windows, rolling green hills that seem to stretch on forever, and a delightful town centre, full of character and history. It's the kind of place that makes you want to grab a picnic basket and wander down winding lanes with your best friend.
Speaking of best friends, this adventure wouldnāt be half as magical without my beloved Miss Penelope. You all know Penelope ā my favourite little fluffy horse, the one who always seems to understand my unspoken worries and share my greatest joy. You could even say that weāve been on this journey together, sharing whispered dreams, heartfelt conversations, and a million silent moments under the vast, starlit sky. This journey wouldn't be possible without the love and companionship that she brings.
This time, however, I chose the railway. I adore a good train journey! It allows you to see the world at a slower pace, absorb the beauty that surrounds you and enjoy a delightful cuppa ā the true essence of travelling in style! Today, I even treated myself to a delightful plate of finger sandwiches from the buffet car. Ah, the life of a touring ballerina!
And, of course, no journey is complete without my trusty pink tutu. Today's ensemble is particularly spectacular ā it's a delicate confection of shimmering pink tulle, sprinkled with a thousand tiny diamantĆ© stars. I have a feeling itās going to leave an unforgettable impression on the good folk of Salisbury!
My schedule here is jam-packed, darling. First on the agenda is a quick visit to Salisbury Cathedral ā I just have to admire its soaring spire. And who knows, maybe a little impromptu ballet performance amongst the pews ā it's a tradition! This is just too perfect an opportunity to miss, especially with such an impressive, vaulted ceiling! Imagine the reverberation of my leaps!
Then, off to the charming Salisbury Playhouse! My heart just beats a little faster knowing I will be seeing a modern reinterpretation of āSwan Lakeā. The cast promises to be outstanding, and I've heard rumours of an exceptional choreography that redefines traditional ballet. Of course, my verdict will be delivered tomorrow. After all, I am the Queen of Pink Tutu critiques. But shhhhā¦ thatās a secret!
Tomorrow is all about ballet class at the Salisbury Ballet Academy. Now, Iām absolutely certain there will be a handful of students eager to learn from a professional, even a slightly unconventional one like me! Perhaps they will even venture to experiment with pink tutus? Who knows! And remember, dear readers, you can follow my every step (and twirl) on this extraordinary adventure on my blog. Iāll be posting regular updates and lots of gorgeous photos ā you donāt want to miss it!
Oh, and letās not forget a trip to see the impressive Stonehenge, an iconic and mysterious sight. How else do you think I get my creative inspiration for these fantastical outfits? And yes, you guessed it! The iconic monument is going to be featured in a special photoshoot. Keep an eye out!
Of course, no visit to Salisbury is complete without a taste of the local fare. I hear they have some amazing pastries! I shall have a treat and enjoy a warm cup of tea. And who knows, perhaps the bakery owner has a delightful pink tutu in her cupboard just waiting to be discovered! I might have to take a peek, just to make sure!
My adventures in Salisbury will continue for a few more days, and I know thereās still much more magic in store! I just can't wait to see what surprises the next few days bring, and what incredible pink tutu moments will unfold before my very eyes!
So stay tuned, my darlings, for this little ballerinaās journey continues with a pink-hued swirl!
Yours in tulle and twirls,
Emma
