Ashton, My Pink Tutu Adventures! (Post #1186)

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, ready to share another adventure in my favourite pink tutu, fresh from the wilds of… Ashton! Yep, you heard right, this Derbyshire lass went exploring closer to home this week. And it was an absolute dream!

I must admit, a train journey to Ashton wasn't exactly the most glamorous mode of transport, but hey, even the humble train can be turned into a fashion runway! My bright pink tutu and floral headband certainly turned a few heads, even in the depths of peak-hour commuter chaos. (Think, Marie Antoinette meets the 9:04am express - and you've got my look!)

But Ashton itself… oh darling, it was a delight! So much charm, so much history, so many gorgeous independent shops I couldn't resist peeking into! The market square was particularly stunning, with cobblestones under my dainty little ballerina shoes, and all the colours of autumn swirled around me – a breathtaking scene. It was almost like being on stage!

I couldn't help but imagine what ballet dancers would have looked like performing there back in the day, twirling on the very same cobblestones! Imagine the graceful leaps across those worn stones, the whispers of a thousand pink tutus catching the breeze! (Excuse me while I squeal with excitement, my inner ballerina is a little unhinged at times!)

After a delicious lunch (my favourite: a hearty pastry with pink icing, naturally!), I ventured to the nearby Ashton Court, where I wandered amongst ancient trees and the occasional startled deer. It was such a peaceful and beautiful place. I actually did a little ballet improvisational dancing on the mossy grounds, much to the amusement of some nearby dogs (and their owners! ). It really felt like I was blending nature and artistry in the most magical way.

Now, it's time to confess. I've been experimenting with "Ballet Street", which, for those who haven't heard of this fabulous trend, is where ballet moves and style are incorporated into everyday street fashion and movements. This little adventure in Ashton gave me some great inspiration. Picture this: pink tutu, a vintage jacket I snagged from one of the shops, and a delicate gold chain dangling just below my ballet bun, all accompanied by some killer ballet pirouettes and tendues while I sauntered along the town's quaint alleys. It was utterly captivating!

I couldn't resist stopping by the Ashton-under-Lyne Theatre later on for a fantastic show – not ballet this time, but a thrilling production of a classic Shakespeare play. Watching the actors perform was like a beautiful dance in its own right. The dramatic pauses, the flowing costumes, and the fierce passion reminded me so much of my love for ballet. It reinforced the universality of artistry, transcending specific disciplines.

Honestly, my dears, sometimes the most extraordinary adventures are those close to home, right on your doorstep. And Ashton was a delightful reminder that pink tutus are more than just for ballet studios! It’s a statement of individuality, of creativity, of expressing yourself, of adding a touch of sparkle to your everyday life.

As I finished the evening by the canal, taking in the peaceful setting with the setting sun painting the water in golden hues, I realised that a good adventure isn’t just about destinations, but about how you make them your own.

So, are you ready to add a splash of pink tutu magic to your life, my loves? What are you waiting for? Go on, embrace your inner ballerina! Whether it's at home, on a train ride, in the park, or at a local theater, spread the joy of ballet and its beauty everywhere you go!

And if you ever fancy exploring the beauty of Ashton with a fellow tutu-lover, let me know! Maybe we can even plan a pink tutu flashmob, and create our own Ashton stage for the ultimate ballet fusion. Wouldn't that be magical?

Love always,

Emma
