TutuBlog #1212: Bishops Stortford - A Sweet Treat for the Soul

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, your favourite tutu-wearing ballerina, back with another post from my adventures in pink. Today I'm whisking you off on a trip to Bishops Stortford, a quaint little town nestled in the heart of Hertfordshire, just a hop, skip and a jump from my Derbyshire home. And oh, let me tell you, it was a real treat!

The journey itself was a delight. As always, I chose the train, with its swaying rhythm that just begs for a twirl. And yes, I did twirl. A few well-placed pirouettes to the rhythm of the rails, you understand. Nothing gets me in the mood for a new adventure quite like a train journey.

But enough about me, let's talk about this delightful town! Bishops Stortford truly is the definition of a picture postcard English town - half-timbered houses with their little cottage gardens, a quaint high street filled with independent boutiques, and an atmosphere that just oozes charm.

I, of course, had to take in a bit of ballet while I was there! There's this charming dance school nestled right in the heart of the town called The Dance Academy, with their stunning mirrored studios that seemed to radiate magic. They actually had a beginner's class running - talk about perfect timing, right? I just had to have a little practice. A quick pirouette and a few port de bras later, I was right back in my element.

And the town was alive with colour! I just adore those pops of vibrant colours that give a place that bit of personality. And you can bet, I found a pink spot for a perfect picture. My new tutu - a delightful confection of ruffled pink tulle, with silver sequins shimmering around the waist - looked simply fabulous against the pastel walls of a lovely tea room called "The Sugar Plum".

Speaking of tea rooms, they certainly know how to spoil you in Bishops Stortford! The afternoon tea at "The Sugar Plum" was a veritable feast for the senses. A medley of dainty finger sandwiches, mini Victoria sponges, delicate scones with clotted cream, and, of course, endless cups of perfectly brewed Earl Grey. You could just hear my stomach singing "Tea for Two" ! I might have even snuck in a few steps of ballet (just a quick "pas de deux" with my dainty, sugar-coated treats, if you know what I mean) before it was time to head back to the station.

Speaking of the station, you'll be delighted to hear it has a lovely little park next to it. It was filled with children laughing, and squirrels chasing each other through the trees. You know how much I adore wildlife, and this park really reminded me of the wild countryside in my dear Derbyshire. It was the perfect end to my day, watching the sun sink behind the green hills, a calming symphony of bird song filling the air.

So, if you're looking for a charming town to explore, Bishops Stortford really does tick all the boxes - quaint, welcoming, a touch of pink, a pinch of culture, and just a hint of countryside charm. And don't forget to have a slice of cake, you deserve it, darlings!

Oh, and while you're at it, pop over to www.pink-tutu.com for daily doses of pink and tutus, along with tips and tricks for your very own ballet journey! You never know, you might just fall in love with it. Just remember - there's a tutu for everyone!

Until next time, keep your spirits high, your steps light, and always embrace the power of a little pink!

Love, Emma.
