Spalding Splendour: A Tutu-ful Trip (Post #1235)

Hello darlings! It’s your girl Emma, back with another post from my travels, this time to the charming town of Spalding in Lincolnshire. As you know, my life is a whirlwind of pink tutus, ballet, and endless adventures, and this trip was no different.

I’ve always adored the idea of escaping to quaint, historic towns, so Spalding beckoned with its charming canals and delightful little shops. Plus, what could be more fabulous than a day exploring the English countryside with my trusty tutu?

I decided to travel in style, of course, with a first-class ticket on the train. I mean, when you’re sporting a lime green tutu, a little extra comfort is a must!

Arriving in Spalding, I was struck by the peaceful atmosphere, the slow pace of life, and the beautiful old architecture. It felt like a step back in time, a perfect contrast to the frantic energy of city life.

My first stop was the charming Spalding Museum. It housed an incredible collection of artifacts from the town’s rich history, including beautiful pottery and intricate textiles. The highlight for me was a stunning collection of antique dolls - imagine, tutus and tiaras back in the day!

Lunch was enjoyed al fresco at a quaint cafe beside the canal, a slice of Victoria sponge washed down with a pot of tea (all very English, wouldn't you say?) - perfect fuel for my afternoon exploring the market.

Now, you all know my passion for ballet and tutus, and finding a small independent dance shop was a top priority. And wouldn't you know it, the shop, "Spalding Steps", was an absolute dream. It was overflowing with the most beautiful leotards and tutus, the kind that make your inner ballerina squeal!

After a quick fitting and a purchase that definitely won’t be my last (how could you leave such amazing treasures behind?!), I took a wander along the town's historic streets. The colourful Tudor houses and cobblestone paths felt like something out of a fairy tale, and I was delighted to spot a little tea room adorned with delicate pink flowers – utterly divine!

But my favourite part of Spalding was undoubtedly the tranquil Welland Valley Walk. As I strolled along the riverside, I spotted a flock of beautiful white swans, gracefully gliding on the water. The afternoon sun shimmered on the river, and the sound of birdsong filled the air. This was definitely the scene that truly captivated my heart – and my Instagram account!

Speaking of Instagram, my followers absolutely loved seeing my tutu-clad adventures in Spalding. My lime green number really was a statement piece! Many were surprised to see my travels in this quieter part of England, but as always, I loved sharing a different perspective on a less-touristy area.

Overall, my trip to Spalding was absolutely magical. It's a place that truly resonated with my love of beauty, history, and all things pink! This visit reminded me that the most stunning destinations are often hidden away in unexpected places.

As I reflect on this day, I realise it perfectly captured my love of exploring and pushing myself outside of my comfort zone. It’s the small joys, the hidden gems, and the unique experiences that make life so vibrant and exciting.

So my darling readers, whether you're looking for a day trip or a weekend getaway, don’t underestimate the magic of quieter places. Sometimes the best discoveries lie off the beaten track, just waiting for you to embrace them with an open heart (and, of course, a tutu!).

Stay fabulous, Emma x

P.S. Did I mention that I found the most adorable wildlife sanctuary just outside of Spalding? A veritable menagerie of critters, and I just had to share their cuteness on my Instagram stories! It goes to show that adventure awaits you, even in the most unassuming of places.

P.P.S. My little birdie tells me that a brand new dance studio is opening in Spalding very soon! You know what that means? A trip back to this charming town is in my future. I just might be wearing a new, pink tutu… ;)
