Bournemouth Bound! (Post #1315)

Hello darlings!

It’s Emma here, your resident pink tutu-loving, ballet-obsessed blogger, writing to you from the sunny shores of Bournemouth!

The train journey down was, as always, an absolute delight. I couldn't resist a quick outfit change in the carriage to my newest pink number, a fabulous, oh-so-flirty, feather-trimmed tutu that I picked up in the Liberty of London sale. You know how I love a good bargain! I felt like a ballerina straight out of a vintage postcard, twirling down the aisles and giggling at the startled passengers (in the best way possible, of course). Who doesn’t love a little bit of whimsy?

Arriving in Bournemouth was like stepping into a dream. The air buzzed with a lively energy, and the promenade was a beautiful kaleidoscope of colourful beach huts. I could already picture myself gliding along the seafront, a wisp of pink tulle against the backdrop of the turquoise sea. I just knew that this trip was going to be absolutely sensational!

The first thing on my agenda was to treat myself to some seaside delights. Now, you all know how much I adore a good cup of tea, but Bournemouth has an extra special treat on offer: Afternoon tea with a view. So, naturally, I indulged in a delightful selection of finger sandwiches, freshly-baked scones with lashings of clotted cream and strawberry jam (yum!), and, of course, a pot of perfectly brewed Earl Grey tea. The views over the ocean were absolutely breathtaking. Just perfect.

After tea, I had a wander through the shops and was instantly drawn to a sweet little vintage boutique called “The Dusty Attic”. Inside, I found a collection of treasures just begging to be brought home with me: a 1950s ballet slipper keychain (you bet I snagged it!), a pink floral headband (I can’t resist a good hair accessory!), and a beautiful vintage broach in the shape of a dancing ballerina (needless to say, she’s now adorning my tutu!).

As the sun started to set, I felt a powerful urge to experience the magic of Bournemouth’s seafront. So, I found myself sitting on the sand, watching the sky transform into a blaze of colours, the pink of the sunset perfectly matching my tutu. It was the kind of moment that you treasure in your heart. Moments like these are what make travelling so wonderful.

Now, for the main event of the weekend – a ballet performance! The Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra was performing Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake at the Town Hall. The venue was stunning, with beautiful high ceilings and intricate chandeliers that glistened under the lights. The stage felt charged with energy and the orchestra's performance was truly moving.

The ballerina performing Odette and Odile was incredible, so elegant and graceful. Her leaps and turns were like whispers of air, her emotions so intense and palpable, you could almost feel the sadness and longing in her heart as she danced. I found myself transported to another world, lost in the story unfolding before my eyes. It was an evening I'll cherish for a long time.

No trip to Bournemouth would be complete without experiencing the vibrant and beautiful New Forest. The scenery was like something out of a fairytale. Lush green woodland that stretches for miles, filled with wild flowers, wild ponies, deer, and a whole array of exotic birdsong. I could hardly believe how much peace and tranquility I felt in nature, just being present and letting the sounds and sights wash over me. It was the perfect place to clear my head and to simply be.

Of course, I had to embrace the local culture while in the New Forest. So, what better way than to have a lovely ride on horseback! The gentle giant of a horse, with its long, flowing mane, made me feel like a real-life princess. I rode through the woodland and meadows, feeling so close to nature and so free. This is something I want to do more often. Maybe a ride on a white horse, with a flowing pink tutu, on a white sandy beach, oh, how beautiful that would be. I will add it to my bucket list for sure!

Well, my darlings, it’s time to pack my tutus and head home. I'm feeling so refreshed, inspired, and ready to embrace the new week ahead. I hope you're all inspired to follow your dreams and to always have fun with fashion and with life!

And, remember, always wear your pink tutus proudly!

Love, Emma
