Hello, darlings! Emma here, ready to whisk you away on another whirlwind adventure in pink and tulle! This time, the call of the East Coast drew me to the historic town of Colchester. A fabulous weekend of ballet, shopping, and of course, a splash of pink!
Remember my little blog motto, "Spread the tutu love"? Well, it certainly took flight on this trip, especially in Colchester’s adorable boutiques. You wouldn't believe the adorable pink tutu I snagged – imagine, the most vibrant bubblegum shade imaginable! With a touch of glitter and feathers, it was just screaming my name. Imagine how divine it'll look with my ballet classes this week – a total dream come true!
Before I left Derbyshire, I was lucky enough to score a couple of tickets to a show at Colchester's charming Mercury Theatre. The atmosphere was positively electric, a perfect setting for a vibrant performance of "Sleeping Beauty" that really had me feeling every twirl! The set was gorgeous and the costumes were breathtaking! Oh, to be twirling and leaping amongst those gorgeous silks and satins – one can only dream!
After a dreamy night, Saturday was for a touch of culture. Colchester Castle was just what the doctor ordered, with its amazing Roman history. Honestly, the Roman architecture here is stunning – imagine building like that by hand with nothing but a bit of mortar and a whole lot of muscle!

Now, a true ballet aficionado knows that after an enchanting ballet performance, there is one crucial thing left to do: shop! After lunch, a leisurely wander around Colchester’s bustling high street became my mission. The shops were filled with delights – a perfect mix of vintage boutiques and modern chains. My loot? An absolute dream! A delicate pastel pink scarf that perfectly compliments the new tutu. (My pink tutu wardrobe just gets bigger and bigger - I've just got to keep up!)
A long day of exploring was ending with the biggest smile on my face. You can’t have a day of shopping in Colchester without indulging in a fabulous cream tea. My new favourite is The Victoria Rooms Tea Rooms. Everything is done so beautifully.
And you just can't ignore the stunning views! My little legs were starting to tire, but I knew that I had to find somewhere that I could admire Colchester in all its glory. I sat on a bench at Castle Park, and oh my goodness! The rolling green hills, the castle perched on the top, the beautiful flowers. I have to say, it was just enchanting.

And how about a bit of whimsy? The local wildlife of Colchester added some unexpected fun to the trip. While wandering the paths of Colchester's Castle Park, I came face to face with some absolutely adorable squirrels – such tiny bundles of energy! The little fluffballs just zipped past with their fluffy tails bouncing – absolute mischief-makers, I tell you! I can’t wait to show you some of the snaps I took – they are adorable.
A quick gallop across the countryside - who doesn't love a trip on a horse?! To add an extra touch of adventure, I managed to find a local stables in Colchester. Now, I am no seasoned rider but I just can't resist the thrill of a horse and carriage ride. It was a wonderfully gentle afternoon ride, exploring the rolling hills just outside Colchester. Feeling the gentle wind in my hair as I cruised through the countryside really topped off my pink-tinted adventures in Colchester! What a wonderful, inspiring town, perfect for spreading my tutu love!
