St Albans Sparkle: A Pink Tutu Adventure

Oh my darlings, what a fabulous day I’ve had! I just had to share it all with you – my adventures in St Albans, the delightful town with the stunning cathedral! It feels like I’ve stepped straight into a fairy tale. I feel like one of the little mice who tiptoe across the stage, wearing the prettiest pink tutus – imagine, with all the sparkles of the Christmas tree! It’s my very favourite season – Spring is definitely the ballet dancer’s time to shine!

I travelled in style, naturally! This morning, I couldn’t resist hopping on the train - my trusty friend the 'London to the North' line is such a gorgeous, graceful journey, you know! You can tell I'm a proper Derbyshire girl at heart. Nothing beats that feeling of the wheels leaving the tracks and looking out the window, spotting the first hints of the countryside. Even the sheep grazing in the fields look as though they’re in a ballet, you know - their heads bobbing in the breeze!

St Albans has a special place in my heart – I love its charming, cobbled streets and that adorable independent bookshop - oh, the smell of new books, you guys! It's heaven! – But this trip was all about dancing and of course, my fabulous, totally dreamy new tutu, because, well, it’s just utterly beautiful!

This time, it was Italian – all flowing tulle, it was so delicate and elegant! It’s the softest shade of blush pink, a shade just for my pale, fair complexion. No one is wearing blush like me darling! I practically was born with it! * I was twirling, leaping, and even attempting a chassé in the centre of the market – naturally I wasn't really in the centre of the market, but who could resist the opportunity!

Everyone stared and gave me a knowing look – “Aha, a real ballerina!” you could hear them saying to themselves - and, well, they were totally right.

In fact, there were a group of adorable school kids, just like the little fairies who light the stage with their dancing and wonder! They looked up at me with the purest excitement in their eyes and started mimicking my moves - oh it's so wonderful to inspire! I had a little chat with their teacher too. He actually did ballet as a little boy, he told me, but only to ‘toughen himself up’ haha, I must get that message out to all the mums! Get them involved and everyone will want to pirouette around their kitchen!

Now for the show! The performance I saw in St Albans was beyond extraordinary. You could sense that passion pouring from each and every dancer - pure joy, radiating like the sun! The lighting, the music - oh it was all so powerful.

There's a special energy when watching dancers tell a story, a love story, even, without words. A ballet performance truly takes you to another place - maybe that’s why I love theatre so much.

I have to tell you, there were even little squirrels scampering around, all dressed in their own furry tutus – yes! The ballet is in nature! The squirrels looked as if they were following their own stage direction - I mean, their acrobatic leaps! Truly, it is all about movement! The beauty, the expression, and, of course, the pink.

My mission to bring the pink tutu world to all, every day! This time I even spotted a couple wearing pink tutus! What a magical thing – it’s like a love letter in fabric! That's exactly how I see ballet too! And everyone loves pink, right? It’s just such a gorgeous, girly colour. I am so happy I can show everyone its wonder! It is a universal language - think of those ballerina swans with the lovely pink necks! Oh darling! Even I love a bit of pink in my life - what would a pink tutu ballerina be without it, I mean!

Before I head off back to Derbyshire, there’s one more place I'm heading – the animal sanctuary. It's tucked away on a hillside, right on the edge of town, looking out at the rolling green countryside! They always say a ballerina’s posture should be like a graceful swan, or, indeed a beautiful graceful, gentle deer - with its powerful legs - think of a *développé!

It's a reminder of what nature can do, its power, its beauty. It’s so magical and serene, a real retreat after a busy day! It makes my heart so happy! They even have a few goats, munching on their greens and I just had to show them my sparkly pink tutu. You should have seen them, just grazing peacefully – pure, peaceful, blissful joy. I have the cutest pictures of the pink tutu goats - that will definitely go on my Insta tomorrow - watch out for the little ballerina goats. It's such a unique treat. I am definitely taking up goat-yoga next.

I hope my post has given you some inspiration. So, my dears, please let your inner ballerina shine! And remember, life is too short for anything less than a pink tutu moment. You can get yours at www.pink-tutu.com

Off to Derbyshire with my new pink Italian tutu. Happy twirling my dears!
