Welling, Kent - A Pink Tutu Adventure!

Post 1459

Hello lovelies! It's Emma here, bringing you another dose of pink, twirls, and adventure!

Today, I've swapped the rolling hills of Derbyshire for the charming, historic town of Welling, Kent. And what a perfect day it's been for a pink-tutu-clad gal like me. It’s a truly beautiful summer’s day here – I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many fluffy white clouds! The sunshine has brought out the colours, and I’m loving all the vibrant pinks and peaches in the flowerbeds and shops.

Before I launch into today's adventure, I must tell you about my incredible journey here! Imagine it - I packed my pink suitcase with my go-to tutu, my trusty dance shoes, and my essential stash of ballet goodies. Then I boarded a steam train in the heart of Derbyshire, a gorgeous, mahogany beast that steamed and hissed like a friendly dragon! I couldn't resist wearing my special "Victorian Railway Ballerina" tutu - you know, the one with all the intricate lace and fluffy feathers? Everyone was so charming – a sweet old lady gave me a wink and said, “Off to a performance, my dear?” And my heart just melted! You never know how your passion for pink and pirouettes will spread happiness.

And now for my real adventure – exploring the delights of Welling! I started by treating myself to a scrumptious afternoon tea at "The Pink Flamingo" – just imagine the sheer joy of seeing the words 'Pink' and 'Flamingo' together in one name – truly a sign from the universe. And yes, everything was pink – the napkins, the teapot, even the cakes! My favourite was a delicious strawberry and elderflower cupcake with delicate meringue swirls. Deliciously pink, naturally. I then wandered around the quaint shops, marveling at the charming vintage teacups and floral patterns - so beautifully English, don't you think? I did pick up a tiny, beautiful pink porcelain teapot that was just perfect for a solo afternoon tea.

In the evening, I couldn't resist the allure of Welling's quaint theatre, the "Rose & Crown Playhouse", a charming building adorned with roses and charming floral murals, and I splurged on a performance of a traditional British pantomime. The air crackled with laughter and I gasped with joy as the ballerina danced her graceful arabesques. I even spotted a lovely little girl in the front row wearing a sweet pink tutu.

I have to say, there’s something truly special about attending performances in quaint, historical theatres. You get a sense of the stories and dreams that have played out on that same stage centuries ago. There's a certain magic about the lights, the applause, the sense of community and wonder.

And speaking of magic, did I tell you I saw a little fox running around the local park? Such a playful little creature, scampering about in the sunlight. I almost had to take a moment to collect my own thoughts! The local park here really feels like a step back in time with its rolling hills and old stone walls.

Now, I don’t want to forget the main reason I came to Welling! A lovely lady, Sarah, invited me to a private ballet class in her beautifully-maintained garden, filled with charming floral displays. The air was filled with the scent of jasmine and roses as Sarah put me through my paces! You wouldn’t believe the joy and peace I felt dancing in such a peaceful, serene setting – nature, grace, and artistry truly make the perfect combination!

Oh, and before I sign off, I must tell you a delightful bit of news – Welling is also famous for its gorgeous white horses! That’s right, the area is famous for its legendary wild horses which gallop across the grassy plains. Now that’s something I’d love to see, maybe next time!

Until tomorrow, darlings! Keep dancing, keep twirling, and always embrace your inner pink-tutu-clad adventuress!

Much love,

Emma
