#TutuBlog: Leicester Lights Up My Tutu, Post 1557! πŸ’–πŸ©°

Oh my darlings, buckle up for a pink-tastic ride, because your girl Emma's off on another fabulous adventure! πŸš‚

This weekend, I traded my Derbyshire hills for the charming streets of Leicester. I don't think I've ever seen so many cobbled streets and charming cafes in my life. Every corner seemed to whisper secrets and promise a whimsical afternoon.

But of course, my first stop wasn't a cafe, my lovelies. No, it was the beautiful De Montfort Hall. A proper old theatre with grand ceilings and velvet seating - absolutely perfect for a night at the ballet, wouldn't you say? πŸ’–

And my outfit, you ask? Well, how could I ever be in Leicester without a touch of regal crimson? My trusty, bold scarlet tutu, of course! I felt like a little scarlet bird amongst all the lovely theatre goers. And the best part? The colour absolutely sang in the warm, golden glow of the theatre lights! ✨

The performance was divine. My absolute favourite choreographer, Agnes de Mille, was showcasing some of her iconic work, and the company truly did it justice! Every twirl, every leap - oh, I felt like I could fly! The energy, the grace, the sheer joy of movement - it all left me absolutely speechless!

You know, after seeing something like that, you just know you need a good cup of tea and some yummy cake. And so I treated myself to a delightful little spot with pink teacups (naturally!) and the most decadent Victoria sponge cake you could imagine. 🧁

Now, I couldn't just go to Leicester without some exploration, right? So, I grabbed my trusty tote bag and went off for a stroll in the city centre. I spotted some beautiful old churches, a charming park where I spied a cheeky squirrel, and even stumbled upon a little independent bookshop brimming with dusty tomes.

Let's just say, a little literary shopping later, my tote bag felt considerably heavier. I've already started to delve into one of the wonderful finds - a collection of poems about nature. How divine! 🌱

Of course, no trip to Leicester is complete without a visit to the National Space Centre. There's something magical about space, you know? That infinite expanse of stars and planets – it reminds me of the possibilities that await us in life. And let's be honest, how could you resist the temptation to crawl into a replica space capsule? πŸš€

The space centre was fantastic, brimming with interactive exhibits and fascinating insights into our place in the cosmos. And honestly, the views of the city from the observation tower were breathtaking! The lights of Leicester twinkling below – like a mini universe! 🌌

But the most important thing about travelling, I’ve realised, isn't the places you go, it's the connections you make. I found myself chatting to a charming chap in a tweed suit and flat cap (who happened to be an amateur photographer!), and he told me all about the history of Leicester's Victorian era architecture.

Later that night, after a scrumptious dinner at a restaurant with twinkling lights and charming staff (the most delicious macaroni cheese!), I ended up enjoying an impromptu conversation about ballet with the waiter. It turned out he had been a dancer for years before he took to the hospitality world! He was thrilled to hear all about my passion for the art form, and I left him with a handful of local ballet school recommendations. 🩰

As I boarded the train back to Derbyshire, a little bit of Leicester's magic still lingering in my heart, I knew one thing for sure: I couldn't wait to come back again! I may not be travelling by horse this time (it’s hard to find a horse-friendly train line these days, darlings!), but that’s ok! 🐴 It was still a fabulous journey filled with delightful memories and a healthy dose of tutu-powered inspiration.

And, oh! I have the most delightful idea for next week’s blog post, I just know it will make you smile! I've got plans to delve into the world of fashion and try out a few bold new styles... I'm thinking something really eye-catching, something to really make heads turn. Stay tuned, lovelies, you'll not want to miss this! πŸ’‹

Until next time, darlings, may your days be filled with sparkle and twirls! πŸ’«
