Taunton Calling! (Post #1662)

Oh my darlings! The sunshine is shining (despite being January!), the birds are singing (yes, even in the chilly British air!), and I am positively glowing with excitement because – you guessed it – I’m off on another adventure! This time, my tutu-clad feet are taking me to the enchanting town of Taunton, nestled in the heart of Somerset.

Before we delve into the details of my Taunton escapade, let's take a moment to appreciate the fabulous outfit I've chosen for my travels. Today's ensemble features a luscious lavender tutu - the shade is reminiscent of those delicate lavender fields that bloom in Provence (oh, how I long for a trip there!). It’s the perfect mix of ethereal elegance and a playful touch of whimsy. You know, like a pink-loving ballerina with a wild streak!

Speaking of pink, my dear, sweet pink – that is the colour that always makes my heart skip a beat. So, I've paired my lavender tutu with a bright pink blouse, a fluffy pink cardigan, and some pink polka dot tights to add a splash of playful pep to my ensemble.

But back to Taunton, my lovely ladies! My adventure begins at my charming Derbyshire home. Yes, that's where the magic starts – a world of tutus and train journeys (and sometimes, if I'm feeling really adventurous, I hop on a horse!). My trusty travel companion for today is a delightful scarlet carriage (yes, I admit, I have a bit of a thing for colourful things!), drawn by two handsome dappled grey steeds. I imagine them carrying me through the English countryside as I imagine myself dancing a delicate ballet – oh, how glorious!

It takes a while, of course, but finally, after a truly wonderful carriage ride (filled with sweet country air, gentle birdsong, and a plethora of cheeky rabbits hopping through the fields), we arrive in Taunton. The moment I step out of the carriage, the quaint charm of the town fills me with glee!

First, I must indulge my passion for ballet! It wouldn’t be a trip without a ballet performance, now, would it? My love of dance knows no boundaries – whether it's watching graceful ballerinas leap across a theatre stage or joining in on a local ballet class, every movement sets my soul on fire. Today, my heart is set on a performance of 'Giselle' at the beautiful Taunton Theatre. I have a feeling this one's going to be absolutely captivating, filled with graceful ballerinas, swoon-worthy choreography, and costumes to die for. And, of course, lots of pretty pinks!

After the ballet performance, I'm feeling incredibly inspired. You know what that means, don't you? Ballet street! I simply must find a charming little spot in Taunton where I can channel my inner prima ballerina and pirouette my worries away! Perhaps there's a quaint park or a quiet courtyard where I can perform a little routine for myself? (Maybe I'll even take a quick video – maybe my fellow tutu lovers would enjoy it!).

And, because this journey is not only about dance, but also about experiencing the joys of nature and discovering the hidden beauty of our wonderful world, my Taunton itinerary wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the Somerset Wildlife Trust’s beautiful reserve! I'm utterly enthralled by the wildlife in the UK, particularly the wild horses grazing in the open fields and the magnificent birdlife that soars above the landscape. There's something so serene and calming about observing nature in its rawest, most natural form.

And of course, no trip would be complete without indulging in a delectable local delicacy or two. You'll find me strolling through Taunton’s charming market, sniffing out the freshest local cheeses, breads, and sweet treats – yum!

And now, for a final thought before I sign off – how divine would it be to see Taunton, and every town, embraced by a sea of pink tutus?! Imagine the joy and happiness it would bring! Maybe one day, it's a dream we can all achieve. After all, who doesn’t love a bit of pink and a touch of twirling?

Stay tuned for more adventures, my darling ballet enthusiasts!

XOXO

Emma
