Loughborough: A Whirl of Orange & a Dash of Pink! (Post #1663)

Good morning, darlings!

Today's post is bursting with colour, sunshine, and…well, orange! That's right, the Tutu Queen has traded her beloved pink for a burst of vibrant citrus this weekend. As always, life with Emma's pink tutu is a whirlwind of ballet, beautiful landscapes, and adventures – even if it means ditching the blush pink for a while.

Remember those lovely people at the Loughborough Ballet Company who asked me to help choreograph their winter performance? Well, the time has finally come for the grand debut, and it’s been a complete joy to work alongside such talented dancers. There's nothing quite like watching someone discover their inner swan (or gazelle, or whatever magnificent creature their movements evoke) on the dance floor.

Today's outfit, for this oh-so-special occasion, was an explosion of orange - I think my pink-loving heart would have burst if it wasn't for the adorable pale pink lace trim peeking out from beneath my bright orange tutu! Yes, darlings, you read that right! An orange tutu! It's definitely a look, let me tell you. My trusty ballet flats were pink, naturally, adding a touch of the old-school Emma magic, and my hair was twisted into a perfectly imperfect bun, just the way I like it.

It's a bit of a tradition, this ballet excursion, and I always get so excited! For starters, I got to ride to Loughborough on a gloriously sunny day - think rolling green hills and fluffy clouds in a dazzling blue sky, a real postcard picture of Derbyshire! I took a comfy carriage, mind you, with comfy seats, plenty of legroom and just a hint of a romantic sway – just like something out of a Jane Austen novel! I’m telling you, darlings, the English countryside really knows how to put on a show!

Speaking of shows, I got to take a proper backstage tour before the performance! And boy, let me tell you, I got a glimpse of the inner workings of ballet that's definitely not for the faint of heart! The backstage is a hive of activity – costume changes galore, hairspray galore, and even a cheeky robin hopping through the changing rooms! Oh, and did I mention that my dressing room had the most gorgeous bouquet of pink lilies on the table?! It's practically criminal to be so perfectly pink!

The actual performance was everything I hoped for and more. There were leaps and bounds and spins and pirouettes. The sheer artistry was mesmerizing – you could feel the dancers pouring their heart and soul into each movement, creating a whole story just through their bodies. And honestly, the feeling in the auditorium was electric. You could almost hear the excited chatter mixed with hushed whispers, almost a ballet-only language that spoke volumes.

It wasn’t just about the dancing, of course, although I’m practically drowning in awe about the level of technical skill. The set and costumes were breathtaking – each design a miniature masterpiece with vibrant colors and intricate detail. I couldn't help but wonder if a little splash of pink would have brought some more Emma-tastic charm, but I suppose that’s just me!

Anyway, the whole experience was, dare I say, dreamy! So dreamy, in fact, I even got to indulge my wildlife fascination! The stage was filled with the most enchanting backdrops, complete with towering, whimsical trees and a tiny, mischievous-looking fox peaking through the foliage. For a second, I thought it was about to take center stage! That little fox made me want to throw on a tweed coat, grab my binoculars, and head straight out for a spot of bird watching. Oh, if only the squirrels would start pirouetteing around me! Perhaps it’s time for me to make a trip to the nearby zoo – I might just meet a furry ballerina!

So, there you have it, darlings. Another fabulous weekend in the books!

And remember, life is always better with a tutu – especially a pink one. So, get out there, darlings, embrace the pink! Or, perhaps for a day, channel your inner orange and experience the beauty of dance in all its wonderful shades! Until next time!

Love, Emma xx www.pink-tutu.com
