Burton Upon Trent: A Purple Tutu Adventure (Post #1892)

Hello, darlings! Emma here, back from a whirlwind trip to the beautiful Burton Upon Trent, and my oh my, you won't believe what happened! As you all know, I love a bit of adventure, and a good old train journey always puts a twinkle in my eye. This time, it was a trip down memory lane, a trip to the very spot where my first tutu took flight - that's right, Burton Upon Trent!

The train journey was just delightful, like a ballet in itself. A symphony of clicks, whirring wheels and the gentle rhythm of the tracks, punctuated by the cheery chatter of fellow travellers and the soft swish of my own shimmering, pink, sequined dress. I must admit, I was tempted to bust out a few pirouettes in the carriage, but thought it might be a bit much for my fellow passengers - they probably wouldn't appreciate a spontaneous ballet performance at 9am.

Upon arriving in Burton, the quaint cobblestone streets immediately transported me back to childhood days. It was time to pull out the big guns: a vibrant purple tutu, perfect for exploring a town bursting with history. The Burton Art Gallery was the first stop, a beautiful old building filled with fascinating artwork. And who could resist the lure of the Burton Brewing Company? They did, however, frown upon tutus on their tours, but a quick change back into my pink dress had them all charmed! Their ale was exquisite, especially the fruity IPA which complemented the delicate flavour of the wild flowers I'd collected earlier in a quaint village just outside Burton. Wild flowers are such a beautiful and natural part of life.

My afternoon was spent at the impressive National Brewery Centre. Oh, what a spectacle! The grandeur of the place, the history that permeated every nook and cranny - it was truly inspiring. But the highlight of my visit had to be the gorgeous old stables - I practically squealed with delight! I adore horses. They are just so elegant and powerful. Even the smell of the hay was exhilarating, transporting me back to my riding days when my trusty steed, "Sparkling Rose," carried me through the lush Derbyshire countryside.

I couldn't leave Burton without indulging in some proper afternoon tea at the charming little tea room near the station. Tea, scones, finger sandwiches, and my purple tutu - a glorious combination of Victorian charm and modern style!

Burton Upon Trent, what a hidden gem! It’s a place steeped in history, with friendly locals and an atmosphere so captivating you could practically waltz through it. I’ve already planned a trip back soon, this time in a sunshine yellow tutu! This time I want to go on a trip along the canal! But you know what they say: One step at a time, or maybe it's one pirouette at a time, for me!

Do you have any favourite hidden gem places you would love to tell me about?

But remember darlings, let's make this a tutu filled world - wear pink, try ballet, and spread the joy!

Until tomorrow!

Love,

Emma xx
