Borehamwood Bound: A Purple Tutu Christmas

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, your resident pink-tutu-loving ballerina, bringing you blog post number 2000 - can you believe it?! 2000 days of sharing my love for twirling, travel and everything fabulous. And today, it's a Christmas special, straight from the heart of… Borehamwood! Yes, I know what you're thinking: "Emma, why Borehamwood?". Well, my lovelies, it's a little Christmas surprise and believe me, you'll see why this small town in Hertfordshire is brimming with Christmas magic.

This week has been a whirlwind. It all started with a last-minute call for a performance at the local theatre in Bakewell - you know how much I adore a good community performance! So, I squeezed in rehearsals between classes and my usual frantic schedule, all whilst juggling my pink tutus and packing for a little adventure to Borehamwood. It might seem like an odd destination, but believe me, when you see the gorgeous ballet show I’m going to see tonight you’ll be just as impressed as I am.

From Derbyshire to the Big Smoke... via train

This time I was leaving my faithful steed behind and hitting the tracks. Train travel always feels more glamorous - think elegant outfits, crisp white tablecloths, delicious tea and dainty sandwiches. Plus, the journey was simply a joy. I love the countryside vistas rushing by. The snow dusted the fields, giving everything a festive sparkle. And, of course, I brought along my travel essentials - a vibrant pink shawl to ward off any train chill, a paperback romance novel (just like my favourite fictional heroine, Jane Eyre, would love), and a few essentials to freshen up when I arrive, you know what I mean - lipsticks, mascara, hand cream and of course my TutuTravel Kit (a secret collection of magical glitter I’ll never reveal, but trust me, you want one)!

A Purple Tutu Surprise

Once in Borehamwood, I settled into a delightful B&B just a hop, skip and a jump from the theatre. And the surprise? My landlady, bless her, is a fellow ballerina, retired now, but with stories that would melt your hearts! She even gave me a beautiful purple tutu - the perfect colour for this festive season! You know I couldn’t resist sporting it straight away - there I was, looking positively enchanting, twirling amongst the Christmas lights of the quaint, cobbled streets.

Magical Christmas Delights

The streets of Borehamwood were decked out in a festive frenzy! twinkling fairy lights strung across buildings, carol singers serenading shoppers, and a Christmas market brimming with local crafts and delicious treats. It’s impossible not to get into the spirit of the season.

Tonight, however, is all about ballet. The show at The Studios, a small but charming local theatre, is one of the most stunning ballets I've ever seen. The dancers are absolutely phenomenal, with leaps and pirouettes that defy gravity and elegance that leaves me breathless. The story is a Christmas tale full of hope and wonder, just what the season needs.

The Magic of Dance

It truly is remarkable how a story told through movement, emotions, and music can capture your heart like this. Ballet makes me feel truly alive! You could say I have a real 'Ballet Bloom' (a phrase I invented for my readers, as you know). I adore every part of this art form – the precise grace of each movement, the power behind the softest step, the expressiveness of each dancer.

The thing is, you don’t have to be on the stage to appreciate ballet! Just watching from the audience takes you on such an extraordinary journey, fills you with wonder and encourages you to live your life more fully. Honestly, wouldn't it be incredible to live in a world where everyone experiences the magic of ballet?

From Dance to Dreamland…

Now, after all this twirling and enchanting tales, it’s time for a good night’s rest. It's been a day filled with beauty, wonder, and plenty of delicious treats from that wonderful Christmas market. I’m all set for my dreams to take me on another fantastical journey - maybe a ballet about a brave pink tutu-clad warrior battling against an army of grumpy reindeer…

Well, until next time, keep those tutus twirling, remember the joy of dance, and keep dreaming those beautiful, sparkly dreams. You can catch me tomorrow on the blog at www.pink-tutu.com - you never know, I might even be revealing more details about my little purple Christmas surprise… until then, au revoir my lovely pink-tutu-loving friends!
