Stockport Adventures: A Pancake Tutu Takes Centre Stage!

Hello my gorgeous Tutu Tribe! It’s Emma, back with a whirlwind adventure that took me from the Derbyshire Dales straight into the heart of Stockport! Oh, what a day! What a fabulous day it’s been for a ballerina with a penchant for the extraordinary and a tutu on her every whim.

I must start with the confession. My journey began with a trip to my favourite pancake cafe, tucked away in a corner of Bakewell. They're famous for their 'tutu stack' - a masterpiece of fluffy pancakes piled high with raspberry coulis and topped with a cloud of whipped cream, looking exactly like a fluffy pink tutu, and let me tell you, it's as heavenly as it sounds. Naturally, I couldn't resist.

After indulging in that delicious creation, I set off towards Stockport, feeling a little more like a sugar plum fairy than a real person, all thanks to that heavenly pancake treat! And the way to Stockport, you ask? By train, of course! My love affair with trains is no secret; I just find them incredibly romantic. I'm always entranced by the changing scenery – it feels like a performance in its own right.

Stockport greeted me with its cobbled streets and bustling market, the air thick with the scent of fresh produce and the warmth of community spirit. I simply had to do some window shopping, finding myself completely drawn to the 'Something Borrowed Boutique' - overflowing with vintage finds and treasures for the style-conscious. A glorious, sparkly silver clutch, perfect for my next night out at the ballet, found its way into my bag before I even knew what had happened.

My main destination for the day? Stockport Plaza - a magnificent, grand old theatre that truly makes my heart sing! I’d heard whispers of the annual 'Dancing with the Stars' charity ball, and of course, my tutu-wearing self just had to be there!

And oh, it was a dazzling event! Ballroom dancing couples waltzing around the floor, sequins shimmering under the spotlight, laughter echoing in the air, and a spirit of generosity that was truly touching. I watched as local celebrities, politicians, and community leaders, put their dancing shoes on and took to the stage for a night of entertainment and fundraising. They may not be professional dancers, but the sheer joy in their faces, the graceful spins, and the hilarious mishaps just added to the charm of the evening.

Now, you're probably thinking "Emma, what did you wear?!" And oh, I wouldn't have dreamed of showing up without something special. A vintage lilac tulle tutu with cascading layers of fluffy pink and silver lace - absolutely perfect for a night like this! And a touch of my trademark sparkle, of course. A dash of silver glitter on my eyelids, a delicate pink feather boa, and, naturally, my trusty, sparkling, pink ballerina flat shoes that made my toes tingle with every tap on the floor.

You'll never guess what I ended up doing though! They needed someone to join a surprise dance act, a flash mob of sorts, to promote the event! I, being the Tutu Tribe ambassador of fun and fearless, could not refuse! With a mischievous grin and a flutter of tulle, I joined the line, mimicking the steps as the music swirled around us. It was so much fun! And to see the delighted faces in the audience, well, that made it all worth it!

We finished the night with a delicious platter of miniature cakes, a conversation with the charming stage manager who promised to give me a behind-the-scenes tour next time I'm in town, and a promise to keep my dancing shoes at the ready for future events.

You see, that's the beauty of exploring new places and being part of a community - it throws you into the arms of a spontaneous adventure and, if you’re open to it, the possibility for unexpected joys.

And remember my darlings, the beauty of ballet isn't just in the grace of movement but in the joy of movement itself. Don’t be afraid to throw your tutu on and dance wherever you may find yourself! Remember, a pink tutu can be anything you dream it to be. Just embrace the beauty of every twirl, every step, and let your spirit soar!

Until next time, keep twirling, keep sparkling, and keep dreaming pink!

Love,

Emma xx

P.S. Keep an eye out for a new ballet studio popping up in Stockport! There's a whisper in the wind about a delightful pink tutu-themed ballet class… ;)
