Hayes - Heaving in the Heaviest Tutu! 🩰✨ (Post #2381)

Hello darlings! It's Emma, your ever-so-pink ballet-loving blogger, coming to you live from…wait for it…Hayes! Yes, you heard right, this little Derbyshire girl is venturing into the great beyond, a veritable trip to the unknown! Now, I know what you're thinking, "Hayes? Isn't that just a suburb of, well, everywhere?". And you'd be right, my dear, but it holds a special place in my heart… because it's where my newest pink tutu obsession resides! 😉

Before I tell you all about this magnificent masterpiece (yes, it is that amazing), let me fill you in on my journey. I set off this morning, the crisp winter air biting at my cheeks as I hopped aboard a glorious, gleaming train (I swear, those crimson carriages make me want to burst into a pirouette!) The scenery whizzed past like a blurred watercolour painting – oh, how I wish I could just hop out and spin amongst the snow-dusted fields! But duty calls, my lovelies, and that duty is to spread the love of tutus (and the colour pink, naturally!) far and wide.

Speaking of which, did you see my new "tutu-tude"? It's a bit of a show-stopper, darling! A magnificent swirl of silk and feathers in the palest shade of pink imaginable, it’s almost like the dawn breaking over a dew-covered meadow. But the best part? It’s HUGE. Seriously, this tutu would make a grown woman blush – think layers and layers of tulle, each one puffier than the last! It's quite frankly unreal and perfect for showing off my grand jeté on the platform! 😂

Thankfully, the kind conductor at Hayes station offered me a little platform-side pirouette before I was whisked off to meet my dearest Amelia. Amelia, my fellow tutu enthusiast, has this amazing shop in Hayes. It’s crammed full of tutus – you can barely squeeze through the door! And let me tell you, she has exquisite taste. Just the sight of her shop nearly sent me into a full-on, on-the-spot, pirouette-and-twirl frenzy! She calls it “Twirling Through Time” - oh, the punniness! 🤣

We’ve been planning this “tutu-shopping spree” for months, and Amelia even managed to unearth some gorgeous antique tutus, I’m practically overflowing with glee, I tell you! The feather boas, the sparkly headbands, the lace – divine. Amelia swears that she’ll be the only one with a proper selection of vintage tutus in all of Hayes! The girls here better be prepared for a storm of tutus!

After a glorious afternoon spent surrounded by sequins, feathers and satin, we were starving (the thought of ballet is tiring enough, isn't it?) We found a little tea room that served the most amazing scones. You simply must know about this tea room… Oh, it was pink, and they had little pink teacups… My dreams! 😭❤️ We ate scones (naturally with lashings of jam and clotted cream), sipped delicate cups of tea, and dreamt up the next Tutu Tea Party! Oh, how I love it when life is as sweet as a Pink Tea Party!

And of course, it wouldn't be a true trip without a bit of culture (we can't let the pink and tutus entirely cloud our artistic senses, now, can we?). We ended our day with the most magnificent ballet performance I've ever seen! The dancers – all twirling, leaping, and gliding – it was simply breathtaking! Amelia even had a few happy tears in her eyes, so it wasn't just me being a sap! 😊

All in all, Hayes has proven itself to be a most charming town, and even the snow didn't dampen our spirits. We'll definitely be back for a spot more tutu shopping, a bite to eat at that glorious pink tea room (I think I spotted the most exquisite teacups, oh dear!) and maybe a little more cultural immersion with a new performance. Who knows what amazing finds will grace our next "Tutu Tuesday" post. We'll just have to see where our whimsy takes us!

Stay pink and twirl,

Emma

(And please, dear friends, do send me pictures of your pink tutus! Don't be shy. And if you're looking for a truly pink experience, make sure to stop by "Twirling Through Time" in Hayes! I know you won't be disappointed!)
