Harrogate Highlights: A Tutu-tastic Time in the Yorkshire Dales

Post 2409

Hello my gorgeous Tutu Tribe!

Today, I'm bouncing into your lives all the way from Harrogate, a beautiful town nestled in the Yorkshire Dales. It's like stepping into a fairytale with its quaint shops, rolling hills, and of course, the amazing Harrogate Theatre! I couldn't resist a quick detour to the North after a rather glamorous performance at the London Coliseum last weekend. You know how I feel, a ballet-lover always needs a little adventure!

My journey to Harrogate was just as charming as the destination itself. Forget the dreaded motorway; I opted for a luxurious train journey from Derby, snuggling into a plush first-class carriage and watching the green countryside rush by. My trusty, pink (naturally!) Cath Kidston travel bag was by my side, brimming with my favourite books, my little black ballerina bag, and of course, the perfect tutu for the occasion. This one, my dears, is a beauty - a glorious citrus orange tulle that practically sings with sunshine! It felt incredibly apt for a town that embraces the warmth of the Yorkshire Dales, wouldn't you agree?

Upon my arrival, I was greeted by the delightful aroma of freshly baked cakes and the happy chatter of local residents. Harrogate truly oozes a unique blend of history and modernity - think grand Victorian architecture meeting trendy boutiques. And where there are boutiques, there must be tutus!

I confess I couldn't resist treating myself to a little ballet-inspired retail therapy at a charming shop called "Danse & Delight". Let me tell you, it was like a wonderland of colourful tulle, shimmering tights, and elegant dancewear. I left with a stunning new pair of ballet shoes, a shimmering pink hair-scarf, and of course, another tutu - this one a delicate peach shade that's just perfect for a spring afternoon performance.

Of course, my trip to Harrogate wouldn't be complete without indulging in its famous spa. Imagine being pampered in the most exquisite surroundings, bathed in the healing powers of natural springs! After a rejuvenating soak, I was feeling like a new woman, ready to conquer the local ballet scene.

Speaking of ballet, the Harrogate Theatre did not disappoint! Their current production of "The Nutcracker" was simply enchanting, with the most adorable child dancers and breathtaking set designs. The story, with its fairytale characters and captivating choreography, transported me back to my childhood. My heart melted when the Sugar Plum Fairy glided across the stage - I think I might have even shed a happy tear!

Later, I found myself strolling through the delightful Valley Gardens, surrounded by fragrant roses and vibrant blooms. It was a sensory treat for the soul, a stark contrast to the bustling city life I normally embrace. The beauty of nature always helps me to recharge and find inspiration. And yes, of course, I spotted some cheeky squirrels frolicking amongst the trees! Just like my beloved little niece, Ruby, I find these furry creatures absolutely fascinating.

Now, before I end this post, I've got some exciting news to share: I'm taking on a new mission, a call to action, if you will! I'm determined to spread the joy and grace of ballet across the globe, starting right here in Harrogate. I believe every soul, regardless of age or experience, can benefit from a little pirouette or two!

My goal: to see a pink tutu on every single person in the world!
